Creeped out by car

Random car parked outside my house 2 nights last week - live on a street which has no through road and I know all the neighbour cars, put it down to someone visiting- tonight have come back from gym and as I parked in driveway I saw a car with lights on further down road, then I came in house and I looked out curtain and they'd pulled up outside my house. It's a woman eating snacks so husband says she's probably a carer on a break and he thinks I'm bonkers. But I think I'm entitled to feel weirded out! Why wouldn't they just park outside the house where they're caring?! I am quite an anxious person (if that hasn't come across already...)

It would worry me as well OP.

Littletreefrog · 08/09/2025 22:02

In all likelihood it is something completely innocent. My friend used to park in a random side street for an hour or so after work so that her H would be asleep by the time she got home to avoid him (he was abusive).

There are a multitude of other innocent explanations as well but if you are really worried just go out and ask her.

Justchilling07 · 08/09/2025 22:07

If you lived on your own, then maybe, could understand you being a bit creeped out, that’s not the case though You’ve already established it’s a woman, sorry op, in the nicest possible way, stop being such a curtain twitcher!

Lmnop22 · 08/09/2025 22:55

What are you worried that the woman eating snacks in her car on your road will do to you?

What are you worried that the woman eating snacks in her car on your road will do to you?

Sneak in at 2am and cram her full of Quavers?

It’s an ongoing fear of mine 😂

AffableApple · 08/09/2025 22:57

YABU. You were already mithering about it when it was just randomly parked down the road.

Unless you think you'd make a delicious snack, and the woman still looks hungry, I wouldn't worry.

Pleatherandlace · 08/09/2025 23:01

I think you’re the creepy one, curtain twitching at an innocent women just trying to enjoy a twix in the privacy of her own car.

Lex345 · 08/09/2025 23:06

Are you worried about something specifically OP? I would tend to agree she is probably more at risk than you, a lone woman in a car at night in an unknown/new area.

She might have seen you, and felt she would be safer parked near a house with at least one female occupant? Like PPs said-possibly on a break from work/delaying going home etc?

InterestedDad37 · 08/09/2025 23:58

Possibly
*she's a private detective
she's 'between houses and kipping in the car for a while (I've seen it on the telly, so it must happen)
*She's Banksy waiting to do one of her Muriels 😂

OneKhakiFish · 09/09/2025 00:55

i would just keep an eye out, doesnt hurt to be aware of whats going on in your street, at least you dont live alone. I do think people would've answered differently if it was a man sitting in the car

Someone has been sneaking into my house and making my clothes shrink. Could it be, “Quaver Woman” is to blame?

reptilemad1985 · 09/09/2025 01:17

its your husbands bit on the side

SweetBoraeline · 09/09/2025 01:33

I used to have a job where I was out and about and if I grabbed lunch on the go, I would very often park randomly to eat my sandwiches and listen to the radio.

Waterweight · 09/09/2025 01:37

I was all on board with this being creepy until I heard you saw it was a woman eating snacks 😄 I'd just let them get on with it & assume they've probably noticed you aswell & hopefully won't cause any trouble

Your husband is a fine judge of character. Trust him.
