2.5 yr old DD calling me by my name

My 2.5 yr old DD was taught my name by my mil. (For sake of post lets say my name is Fiona, not my real name) She's now calling me Fiona instead of mammy. Advice on how to encourage her to call me mammy again instead of Fiona? It might seem silly but I hate her calling me Fiona. I'm not making a big deal of it, i just tell her to call me mammy but I'm shocked by how much I hate it.

Witches call things by their proper name

Mine did it for a day then stopped. He’s now started saying mum instead of mummy though which I hate!

Why are people afraid of telling their kids how to call them? It's the same as asking someone to call you by the correct name and not a nickname. "I'm Mum. " is enough (my 12 year old call me by my name when he wants to piss me off, though 😂 )

My 5 year old calls me mummy or my name and sometimes she calls me wally brain and I've no idea where she's got that from

Well, DH was about that age when he decided to call all four grandparents by their first names, and that never stopped. I think he got fascinated about how DH’s dad was ‘Dad’ to DH but ‘Firstname’ to me and MIL, and ‘Granddad’ to him, and decided to mix things up.

This is an odd response surely the counter argument is why are some people so afraid that their kids call them by their actual name?

Agreed. DS sometimes calls us by our names, and has since toddlerhood. I can’t say it bothers me in the slightest. It’s kind of sweet.

My two year old shouts out my husbands name when she want’s something. I don’t think she knows it’s his name just think its the noise you make when you want him 😂

I'm not afraid of being called my name by my kids. I just don't like it. Sometimes people want to be called by their "titles", like mother, granny, terms of endearment, your highness (in court, not at home), professor, dr, whatever.
You can have an opinion about that, but that's absolutely normal.
