DH has it in his head that we can sell up our convenient-to-everything home and find a detached with at least 1 acre that has a footpath to the nearest village costing less than £1.2 mill and no farther North than Sheffield.

I have NO intention of moving to the country to spend my days in a car. I can't find a way to interrogate property websites to find ones that have footpaths.

I'm right and there's no such thing, yes?

There are quite a few villages in Warks/W Mids/Northamptonshire that are on the rail line to London. For example something like this house, walking distance to large village and also walking distance to train station for London in under an hour and a half. So not particularly isolating.

Look at the map - no footpath but you can walk through the village streets using pavements to the various pubs, hotels, halls, garages, shops.

It depends what you are looking for in a village. I'm in the forest of dean, less than a mile walk on footpaths to our nearest village (bus route to nearest city, doctor, post office, small shop, pub, fish and chip shop) and there are a number of properties around here that would fulfill your requirements (including ours but it's it going up for sale for a while yet!)

Properties such as you mention do exist. If he is really serious then he needs to present some of them to you. Or, ask an agent/several agents to find them for you. I suspect you don't intend to move OP.

Here's another. Footpath 1 mile to village with good facilities - footpath other way leads directly to the whole of Exmoor and the South West Coast Path.

I won’t be moving anywhere I can’t walk or get an easy, frequent bus to a dentist, supermarket, GP, vet, library, station and post office

if you have to stop driving for any reason, you’re stuffed otherwise

Within England not further North than around Sheffield. It wouldn't be that far away to travel to relatives. England is pretty narrow.

So not restriction within England aside from not further north that Sheffield.

Sure? No adult kids / grandchildren you’d like to at least be within a couple of hours of?
