I’m determined to get one this year. Each year I don’t get around to it, but I want to be prepared!

can you recommend one and what benefits have you found please?

I have the Lumie slim light box. Makes me far less depressed, really picks me up and gives me more energy

I have the SAD light glasses instead of a lamp. I'm retired and struggle to sit for any length of time, so my DH thought these might be better for me. I find them great, they go on top of my reading glasses no problem and I just carry on with whatever I am doing.

Oh wow never knew this was a thing! Do you know the name of them?

Thank you! I’ve just had a look on Amazon and the mini is on sale so I’ve ordered that to try. It looks to be just as powerful as the slim light box so let’s see

I bought a Lumie from Boots two years ago and it’s brilliant

I’ve recently changed to a Hifree smart Alexa lamp which seems as bright as my previous more expensive lamps. I like that I can change the colour and brightness throughout the day and set up routines. It’s perfect as a reading light too so I bought another for the bedroom.

I have a lumie alarm clock, rather than a desk lamp, but it makes an enormous difference when having to get up in the dark. It also plays a lovely Japanese koto tune, rather than a horrid beeping, which makes a big difference too. I actually enjoy the autumn and the darker evenings, but dark mornings are more difficult.

I bought my mum a Lumie Vitamin L lamp a couple of years ago and she loves it. I bought it for her birthday in the spring so she had it handy for the first hint of gloom. It was on sale on amazon at the time too, so a good time to buy!

I’ll check this out too thanks!

From what I can see, the various models have the same strength so I’m not sure what the differences are. I hope the mini I’ve ordered is decent!

I have the Lumie lamp and blue light lightbulbs. I also take vitamin D throughout winter which makes a difference. I hate the dark nights and fill my time with planning what I’m going to put in pots for next year, getting out as much as I can when it’s daylight and counting down the days to lighter nights. I’ve never been able to enjoy the darker nights, twinkly lights, cosy blankets and hot chocolate, I get zero enjoyment out of it.

CeaselesslyIntoThePast · 04/09/2025 22:45

Evidence isn’t great they work. What does work is taking vitamin D and being outside as much as possible during daylight hours in winter months.

Thanks. I’ll definitely do that too.

funnily enough my mood is fine but my energy struggles. I do suffer from chronic fatigue though.
