A friend of mine has been through some financial changes...nothing too drastic but enough to make a difference to her I suppose. We were talking budgets and she said she had approx 1500 left for the month (gets paid on 25th) thats not to include food or bills.
Just to include her fuel for car, her DS's birthday party (gifts already purchased) anad anything else she needs for the month.
I said she surely could save over half...she thinks I'm being unreasonable and she might have 100-200 left at a push.
I had to bite my tongue to be honest!! AIBU?

Well it depends on what she was used to before I suppose in a way? How many dc does she have?

Drugs? Scratch cards? Credit card loans? Hard to tell without knowing where it goes.

Her finances are not your responsibility. Best to reply with vague platitudes like, 'I'm sure you will work something out' and let her sort out her own life. Don't get dragged into being the one who sorts things out.

Well I suppose she may have already committed to an expensive party with the balance due this month, you don’t really know enough to judge. I agree with you it should normally be plenty but you don’t know the ins and outs of her finances, so it’s best not to get too involved or concerned about it.
