Neighbour is a hoarder

I have a neighbour whose garden backs onto the side of my fence. He insists on stacking up all sorts of rubbish against the fence which is bending and breaking from the strain. There are paving slabs, floor boards (with nails attached), trolleys and the type of stuff you’d normally expect to see in a skip. This is behind trees and a shed in his garden so it doesn’t affect him. The problem is the fence (which is mine) is bulging in several places and keeps needing repairs. He has been fairly decent when I ask him but he only moves the rubbish slightly away from the fence which doesn’t solve the problem- in the past I’ve also had to ask him to make it less unsightly as there was so much sticking above the fence. I’ve even offered to have my gardener take it away to the dump for him but he insists he needs it all. I’ve already got a couple of pretty rude neighbours with whom I’m not on good terms (I’ve posted on here about one before) and don’t want to enter into any battles. Can anyone recommend a good diplomatic solution?

‘Hi, can you move everything away from the fence as soon as you can please, you probably can’t see from your side, but the strain from the weight of it all is warping the fencing and it is going to give way and break. I can’t be doing with the expense of a new fence, the easiest thing is for you to move all your things well away from it thank you’

Well if his stuff is actually damaging your fence then he's legally liable for the damage. If speaking to him doesn't help, you need to consult a solicitor. Possibly a legal letter setting out his responsibilities in law would have some effect?

Expensive solution: Leave the old fence there and build a very solid brick wall 30cm nearer your house.
