to ask about a bumbag use on air travel?

Hi, I’m allowed a check-in case, and a cabin case, and a rucksack, all within the airlines specified measurements.

A friend has now suggested to me that I can also “wear” a bumbag.

I do not want to go ahead on that advice, turn up at the airport, to be told it’s not allowed, and I’m stuck with either (impossibly) trying to fit it in the (full) rucksack, or cabin case, or risk leaving it at the airport.

is there anyone who’s traveled Virgin Atlantic, who definitely knows that wearing a bumbag is allowed?

My gut feeling is that it’s fine, as it’s an item that stays on my body, rather like wearing a coat with deep pockets, or cargo trousers with pockets, and therefore not taking up space under a seat, or in an overhead locker.

Yes I guess bumbags may not be fashionable anymore, but I’m too ancient to fuss about that 🤣

As PP, fine to stuff your pockets full of stuff but keep in mind that it is very easy for things to get lost in such long flights if they fall out of your pockets, and that it won’t be very comfy trying to snooze with full pockets either. Plane will likely be in dark night cycle for part of the flight, blankets and pillows everywhere, plastic bags the headphones come in, people taking shoes off, etc. it is VERY easy to lose things between seats, under seats, etc, on long haul flights. Whatever you take your stuff in, make sure it zips up fully.

Thank you SummerInSun.

Everything will be zippered or secure in some way, and it’s great that you’ve brought this to my attention.

I agree I need to be organised, as although I’m not a scatter brain, I’ll be traveling solo, and wanting to be as “on it” as I need to be.

Thank you again 🙏🏻

When I travel I use a cabin bag on wheels . When in the departure lounge I extract from that the necessary things for the flight so that I can put my cabin bag up above. The in flight stuff goes into a small soft fold up bag.

I’ve done this for years never had an issue.
