Oh my GOD

It's so bloody tiring sometimes.

I know I'm not alone and have it easier than lots of people in many ways but I'm having my moment, I'm going to self indulge and have a rant!

DD1 is 6 and has Down's syndrome, so development age is about 2/3. She says 'no' to everything you ask of her. You have to ask everything 8 times and finally when she can see you're getting cross she'll oblige. "come and have dinner Charlotte' 'no' repeat 8 times. "Come and have your nappy changed' 'no' repeat 8 times. Apply to evreything all day every day.

She is constipated and stains her nappies all day every day but rarely really gets to go. Have to change her nappy A LOT.

She is lovely but just so bloody difficult.

Her latest fear are flies. Windows were open earlier, flies came in, and she has spent moast of day crying and being terrified and unconsolable. Currently she is lying on the landing as that's where she seems to feel safe. Can't persuade her otherwise. Have had to lie there with her but have other stiff I need to do.

DD2 - being a 2 yr old. Cries a lot when she can't have her own way. Into everything.
She just insisted on helping me chop up veg and wanted to peel the onion. Got stingy eyes and rubbed them and made them worse. Cue mass hysteria! Washed her face and hands and since then she's said the word 'biscuit' at me. I've said 'no' and explained dinner won't be long but she won't give up. There will be a tantrum any moment! Great.

DD3 - 8 months old cutting 2 teeth and just learnt to crawl on Thursday. So she is clingy, sqawky and keeps getting stuck in corners . Getting frustrated and iritable.

DP sat here with headphones on doing some edit for a radio show, has to be done, but !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm SOOOOOOOOOO tired. My feet ache, my eyes sting. I'm trying very hard to be patient.
DD2 just snatched a toy off DD3 and screamed 'noooooooooooo' at me when I said 'don't snatch that's not nice'.

So help me God.........!!!!!!!!!!!

Am practising my deep breathing but want to lie down in a dark room and make them all go away until they are resonable adults!

Thank you for letting me rant

Back to school on Monday (hopefully) at least DD1 out the way for a few hours then.

roll on bedtime for them & you!

Just remember it WILL get easier as they grow up (probably another 3 years though realistically)

JodieG1 · 31/05/2008 17:07

YANBU, I've felt like that this week after we've all been ill with d&v bug all half term, again! The 3 dc's have been whinging and whining constantly, you have my sympathies.

It's the end of half term, hideous. YANBU. Go and sit and down a V&T in 5 mins. You'll feel better. It's 6 o'clock in France remember

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 31/05/2008 17:13

You poor thing. Mine are 11 and 9 and currently fighting like cat and dog so I'm hiding in the study. Is it okay to drink yet?

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 17:13

Would it make you feel any better to know I went to meet an MNer yesterday, journey of a bus & a train, with a 3yr old (ds1), a 7yrold (dd) and a 7week old(ds2).
gET TO THE PARK BY THE TRAIN STATION, THERE IS AN OUTDOOR PADDLING POOL, IT'S NOT SUNNY, NOT EVEN THAT WARM.(argh caps!)
ds1 decides to strip off naked and jump in, offs!
I allow him back in just in his pants, nevermind we have no towelSuppose he's already wet may as well let him play. Agree DD can go in in her top and knickers, but sheis NOT to get her top wet. Catch DD trying to swim(It's only a few inches deep so she has to practically lay on the bottom to get her top wet)
Cue me having to create a top for her out of a vest I'm wearing and a leopardskin scarf i find in my bag
Also both trains were crappy with nowhere for the pushchair and two steep steps up.

Breathe slowly and remind yourself it's just one of those days (then get the wine out)

tiredemma · 31/05/2008 17:16

Sorry VS- I just burst out laughing trying to imagine you with these semi-naked waterchildren.

Thomcat · 31/05/2008 17:22

LOL! thanks girls

Sympathy TC - you rant away, sounds like you deserve it. Sorry the dd's are yanking your chain - can you park them in front of something on TV - the older two at least?

I have been trying to be good mummy this half term and have arranged playdates for ds1 and dd today (and yesterday) so feel I have fed and refereed 1000 children in the last 48 hrs. Dd's friend keeps shouting at ds2 to go away which makes him shout back and then cry (he's 2), and ds1's friend only wants to play on my computer. He can't, obv, as I am doing important mumsnetting. And one friend won't eat hotdogs and the other won't eat pizza which were my two options for tea, so now I have to make both. Next time they come they will be given veg soup and dry bread and THAT IS IT.

[stomps off to oven muttering "school on Monday, school on Monday"]

purpleduck · 31/05/2008 17:26

sounds awful

but....

um.......

The baby getting stuck in corners sounds a bit funny

keevamum · 31/05/2008 17:28

Oh Thomcat I just wanted to say poor you. It really sounds as if you have your hands full. We all have bad days but I felt even though you are having a really bad day the love for your children still shone through your post....let your husband finish what he's doing then say to him it's his turn and treat yourself to a long walk without kids or a glass of wine or whatever floats your boat!!

Thomcat · 31/05/2008 19:51

Mmmmmmmmm Mumsnet thank you

All 3 in bed after a roast dinner. Have day out tomorrow and only have to take DD3 with me, hurrah! Wine poured, DP out, crap on the telly. It's all good

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/05/2008 19:55

glad to hear it!

tiredemma · 31/05/2008 19:58

Enjoy your wine TC.

in theory my day should have been easy as DP and DS1 hav gone to London for the day- but being home alone with Ds2 has been a challenge.

He is currently standing in the doorway with his penis tucked between his legs telling me that he is a girl.

You have my full sympathies- but I must admit that I did chuckle reading about your girls - they sound like a right crew full of wonderful character!

Thomcat · 31/05/2008 20:12

PMSL Tiredemma!!!!!!!!!! That is soooooooo funny!

They are full of character yes and when it gets really hard I do remind myself that that is a really good thing.

I remember when I was pregnant with no 3 and asked what it was like to have 3. I think it was Enid that said imagine your worst most stressful moment - now chuck a screaming baby into the mix! It was a bit like that today but she was just a bit of a cry baby (but for good reason tbh).

Kids aye!!!!!!!

tiredemma · 31/05/2008 20:23

yep- who'd 'ave em?

Have a good night with the wine.
I only have a single can of strongbow (peasant) in the fridge so I am about to sup on that.

Enjoy!

alicet · 31/05/2008 21:27

Thomcat sending you virtual wine and chocolate! I only have 2 so can't imagine trying to juggle 3. You have my heartfelt sympathy (and awe! ) Sounds like you are seeing the funny side a little now aided by alcohol

Tiredemma pmsl at your ds!!! My 2 year old ds1 has just started being obsessed with his willy - he points at it and says 'I got a willy. Daddy got one too. Ds2 got one too. Mummy got one too' to which I have to tell him(again for about the twentieth time!) that no, mummy does not have a willy because mummy is a girl!

chipmonkey · 31/05/2008 22:09

Thomcat, it could be worse, you could be me! Imagine the scene you described in your OP. Now turn all the girls into boys and add one more. That is my life! >>

Anchovy · 31/05/2008 22:17

Hey Thomcat - your Lottie is almost exactly the same age as DS so I always "know" who my "same-agers" are.

I know it is a bit different and I've only got 2, but I was consoling my neighbour earlier (3,2, 6 weeks!) - it really doesn't get any worse than this.

Honestly - this is as bad as it gets.

Scant consolation, but some consolation.
