Hairdresser ruined my hair

So, I went to the hairdressers to get my hair done, as a single mum finding the money or time to get my hair done is very slim, I booked for a colour correction as I had bleached yellow blonde hair, i requested an ash blonde colour I showed the hairdresser a picture, she was a junior hairdresser and said she would speak to the head hairdresser, they both agreed no bleaching just drag the roots out and add toner, perfect I thought!
so halfway through the appointment she kept mentioning how she would like to go back brown as it’s her natural colour, i thought nothing of it just a normal conversation with a hairdresser, at the end as you could probably guess it was brown with cream highlights, don’t get me wrong it was gorgeous a beautiful mix of brown with blonde highlights, a perfect bronde.
Not what I asked for at all but as you know when they say do you love it ? while you’re sat In the chair naturally I said yes as I cried inside, brown just does not suit me at all I am really fair skinned, after a couple of days home I’ve hated it even more it just looks awful on me.

so my question is do I bother messaging the salon? I absolutely love them so don’t want to create any bad blood or become a Karen, my second option is to maybe ask another salon what they can do, my concern is I just can’t afford it nor do I want to add anymore chemicals to my hair.

hairdressers out there please help me out? What would you do if a client said she didn’t like the hair? What suggestions do you have on maybe brighten my hair a bit more ? Will it take longer to lighten to ash blonde from my brown?

Being assertive about not getting what you paid for is not ‘being a Karen’. It’s ok to not be happy and to ask for it to be changed. Please go back to the salon and speak to a more senior/experienced hairdresser.

Go back. It's taken you a few days but its not sitting right with you, the colour isnt what you were after, you have given it a couple of days to see if it grows on you bit it hasn't, the style isnt right.

It's not "being a Karen" (derogatory misogynistic term...).

Just call the salon, sounds like all it might need is a colour strip and tone as it has already been bleached.

Don't worry about 'being a Karen' - that is a sexist term used to silence women.

I had a similar experience. I did go back to the salon and explained I wasn't happy, said I had waited a few days for it to settle etc. They lightened it with more highlights, with no problem, at no cost to me.
I continued to use the salon until I moved some years later.
The manager said a happy customer telling friends etc about a good experience was much better for business than an unhappy customer who will tell anyone who would listen about a bad experience!
