To have nicknames for my neighbours and ask what yours are for yours?

Apparently most people in the UK have nicknames for their neighbours that they use within their household.

Mine are -
Their names - J & M (next door)
Next door not J & M (I actually know their names but still call them this)
Barky dog people
Penguin people
Policeman's family
Old boy

What are yours, and perhaps more interestingly... what do you think your neighbours call you?

Not where I live now, but at my last house we had an Isa.

If you’re Scottish you’ll get it

She was insanely nosy and gossiped about everything.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/08/2025 11:41

We still have a Mr Fussy, named ages ago by dds after the Mr Men character who cuts his lawn with nail scissors.

How do you pronounce that. Is it Isa as in I....or is it Isa as in ISobel?

Crazycatladywithnocats · 31/08/2025 12:31

Oh we do need the 😂 emoji back! 🤣

We has a downstairs neighbour called Duracell Bunny and we have a Shouty House across the road. My MIL had a neighbour nicknamed “Pernickety”.

PurpleRobe · 31/08/2025 13:28

Nebby / the nebbies

Next door 1 = real names
Next door 2 = The Cunts

Opposite = villamoura (becuase their names together sound like this lol)

Leg man (he's always in shorts and very tall)

pedo (60 yo man messaging neighbour kids on social media)

Eveyone else is The Surname eg The Smiths

RaraRachael · 31/08/2025 13:29

Isa is kind of pronounced Eye-sah but with a peculiarly Scottish first sound somewhere between Eye and Aye.
Sorry if I haven't described it very well

Just watch Still Game 😃

CharlotteCChapel · 31/08/2025 13:31

We're no longer living there but we had the nice neighbours and the bitch next door

Catpiece · 31/08/2025 13:44

Oh yeh. We’ve got pedophile legs. Came to the front door once in a t shirt and y fronts. Yuk

chattyness · 31/08/2025 13:50

We have new neighbours in a few of the houses since the last nickname thread!
Stabby Larry died and someone new moved in this year, we haven't seen who moved in but they had the police at the door 3 times in the first week so they're called Witness Protection atm.
Jack Torrance in the overlook hotel ( It's just a house) but he threatened his girlfriend and family with an axe a bit ago, he's not there very much thankfully.
Neighbours opposite - by their own names as they are lovely
Next door is the puppy farm, she has 4 of her own dogs and sits another 3 that we know of, her name is is shut up & get out /get in.There is so much barking and one of them has bad separation anxiety and goes nuts and when left and again when she comes back, she is nice and friendly though.
Round the back we builders bum, 4 cars between two of them on the car park always tinkering & hammering & lying underneath on one of them even on Christmas ruddy day - we have had words.
New man moved in next door to them recently poor bugger, not sure what his name is yet , quiet & keeps to himself so far.

I think I probably get called the old banshee on the corner, quite fitting really but I don't take any nonsense 😆

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 31/08/2025 13:52

Anna
Whatsherface
Mary
Susan
Knob head Susan.
Her with the white car ( even though there are 3 white cars)
Gob
Piss head
Knobheads
The ones with the drive.
Dickheads who can’t drive

This sums up our street… names and car colours have been changed to protect identities 😂

ConstantlyFuriosa · 31/08/2025 14:07

The cunts next door.

hididdlyho · 31/08/2025 14:09

Moaner Lisa / Hyacinth (Bucket) because she watches out for you leaving the house, then pounces in with such gems as 'can I ask when you're going to cut your lawn/hedge, as it's been a long time since you last did it'? In reality our hedges get cut every 6 weeks and the lawns every fortnight (unless it's scorching hot and a drought). She thinks everyone should aspire to having a perfectly manicured garden like her's and if she badgers all the neighbours enough she'll get her wish 😄

PollyannaWhittier · 31/08/2025 14:10

The three houses opposite are:

Little drummer boy (he's about 17 now, but still plays drums)

Bob the builder (he's actually a plumber it turns out, and he's not called Bob, but we named him shortly after they moved in based on the van full of tools 😆). Bob's wife is the Queen and the kids are the big princess, the little princess and the prince (due to a 'princess on board' car window hanger they had when the eldest was little, about 15 years ago).

And Twitchy (nosey curtain twitching old lady).

Next door both sides, and the two either side of them, we call by their names.

TimothyIsNotAnArmardillo · 31/08/2025 14:22

These are the houses I pass on my usual dog walk

Mr and Mrs Cross - not cross at all, but their house is on a crossroads
Mr Shiny - spends a disproportionate amount of time polishing his car
Mr Goose - he has a goose that escapes
Mrs Yappy - small happy dogs (she's actually Mr Goose's wife but has a separate name for some reason)
Mr and Mrs Chintz - the house looks as if it is full of nick nicks and floral decor

I dread to think what people call us! Probably Mr and Mrs Building Site as our house is such a mess (ongoing project)

HeadsWinTailsLose · 31/08/2025 14:30

68 - deaf head
70 - little twat
72 - dog man, dog man’s wife
74 - fat Richard and lazy Emma
55 - Klare with a K
53 - Gingers
51 - big fella and woman with same birthday as DH

SliceofTosst · 31/08/2025 14:49

Riddles - a bloke who always wears the same clothes but we can't describe his look.

Santa - a bloke who wears a white bandana all the time but has red hair. Initially it looks like he's wearing a santa hat
