Retiring right now

Retiringrightnow · 30/08/2025 19:38

I am retiring right now. I have no mortgage or debts and 120k savings. I have index linked pensions that add up to around 40k pa. I have a house that I love in an area that I adore. I live alone with my wee cat. I have 2 kids that I have already helped to buy their own houses. Am i unreasonable feeling insecure?

Is the 40k after or before tax? If after then it's over 2.7k plus per month with another 945 arriving in 2 years. That's 2.7 without leaving the house with more to come. Sounds good unless you have some expensive tastes

before tax.

Go for it. You only regret what you don’t do - make it work for you.

OP, good for you! Your plans seem solid, and there’s always room for improvement. Take time to enjoy what you love doing. Be mindful of unnecessary expenses, and keep an eye on your bills and taxes to ensure they don’t take more than their fair share from your retirement funds.

Ignore posts from jealous people. If they genuinely cared, they would put in the effort to research and figure out how to plan for a comfortable retirement.

before tax.

So you'll lose 20% after your personal allowance. Someone else can do the maths. Time and money. 2 things we never have enough of but 1 of them is definitely finite.

@ThisTicklishFatball thank you so much. Best wishes.

I can obviously do the figures myself

They are not complicated.
