Does anybody else not understand the sheer amount of people that filter their photographs, to the point it doesn't even look like them anymore? I understand wanting to take a nice picture, but jesus I didn't even recognise an old friend when we met up recently. She is in her mid 40s, and had filtered and blurred bits to the point she looked half of her age. I don't understand it, and then people start to convince themselves that this is what they look like irl, cue online dating. There must be some confusion there on meet ups, when you're searching for who you thought you met!

The thing I really hate however, is when people do this to their child too. I know somebody who will take a nice photo then filter it with false eyelashes, sparkle bits, and this is on her 4 year old daughter too. It is one thing for an adult to do it to themselves, but their child as well is just awful to me.

I love to see natural photographs, and miss the days where you got them developed and it was always a bit of a giggle and surprise going through them with family and friends.

Yes, multiple people at my work have done this with their Teams photo. It's a bit jarring when you meet them for the first time on a call or in the lift.

My SIL does this to her DD and posts the completely alien wide-eyed results to social media. She seems to have learned to pose for photos as a toddler (despite still not being potty trained and starting school!) is only interested in being valued for her appearance and generally a total brat who is rude to everyone and entirely selfish.

It isn't just photos either, some people filter their videos too. I must be old because I didnt even know this was a thing. It is a surreal experience seeing the photo effects in motion. 😂Yes the alien eyes are terrible; the people in the picture always look better before!
