To not want to give all my money to my parents?

My parents lent me and dh lots of money (about £5000) when we had dd1 to buy all the essentials, this was 5 years ago, we used it all to buy stuff, now they want it back.
I have sold most of the stuff on ebay and made back about £3000, my parents only want this back not the whole amount. AIBU to think that it is my money, I did the ebay sales so I made the money, there would be no money if we hadn't sold the stuff.
They have plenty of money, they went on holiday twice last year, we are not short of money but we could afford a much better holiday with this money.
