To wish I could post on MN without people disbelieving me?

Does anybody else feel the same?

I have had two threads on Mumsnet recently. I am in a terrible situation, truly terrible. Both times I have had a few good replies then a nasty, cynical one then a total pile on of people not believing me.

I wish there was a Mumsnet verifier who you could send evidence to, like letters from the Council, etc to prove you are telling the truth. They could be volunteers?

In the worst times of my life, like now, I have had Mumsnet to turn to. But now I find myself met with nastiness and people picking holes in my story, just for the fun of it.

I'm sorry you are feeling so low OP. There are indeed some cruel and unhelpful posters on here but I try to ignore those and take comfort from those genuinely trying to help. I would also avoid AIBU and try posting on the more specific boards for your problem.

This is the issue.

If Mumsnet could verify posters and we knew 100% they were real people it would make such a huge difference.

It would be nice if you posted this on some of the threads we are all thinking of to be honest.

I’m amazed I’d even suggest this, but could you speak (in person, not via email) to a priest? Or a vicar, of course. I’d even add a nun too, but I doubt you still have them in GB.
I just thought that since you’ve exhausted all official professional options, a calm and practical listener might help you see a path onwards.
(Not in any devotional sense. I’m not implying you require spiritual guidance, not at all, but many a cleric will have spent a good deal of time on matters such as housing, wills, crime, schools, home helps etc)

Despite all the terrible things we know about the evil done by the Catholic Church, to women above all, it’s still true that many parish priests are very decent people. (Ditto C of E, natch)

So much depends on what it is you need help with, but you’ve tried women's refuges and aid centres?

What are these threads no one believes? It's hard to comment without the content of your other threads.

I am concerned about the language you are using about breaking points, are you OK? If youve exhausted those options what about a charity or counselling service?

We still have nuns. We even have exorcists.

But yes agree, if OP has explored GPs, council, MP a religious faith leader may be able to offer advice, or a charity depending on what help was needed

Oh I wasn’t thinking English nuns had been abolished after the Reformation or anything (after all, I was a convent girl in England myself) just that vocations have all but disappeared here, and I assumed in GB as well.

County Cork is dotted with the shells of once bustling convents, imposing, serene buildings, all abandoned now.
The only nuns I know here in Ireland now are older than the hills, God love them.
(in other news, I’d turn those empty convents into women-only communes/retirement places if I had a magic wand! )
