MummaHud · 26/08/2025 02:17

I’m getting married tomorrow ( Wednesday ) and we are abroad. I feel so so so anxious, I can’t sleep and have panic attacks and feel like I’m going to throw up.

we have a welcome / rehearsal dinner tonight in the form of a paella party

i cant sleep because im so nervous.

AIBU? Or is this quite common?

Is your nervousness about the day or about who you are marrying? It’s just a day, and doesn’t need to be “perfect”, despite what movies and pop culture tell us.

For what it’s worth, I was not nervous about either of those things before my wedding.

I think I’m nervous about the size of our wedding, we’ve got huge families and family traditions are to have large weddings. The thought of all attention on me as I walk down the aisle is making me feel un easy.

I know when I see him at the bottom of the aisle, all my anxiety will go away. X

What a ridiculous waste of time and money to have a huge wedding that you don’t really want.

Why on earth did you agree to it? Surely you and DH to be could have organised something more appropriate that you actually both wanted?

peepsypops · 26/08/2025 03:55

Ok that’s not very nice @Laura718or helpful is it?

OP, It’s normal to be nervous and full of anticipation as you are describing. I got a bit like that and woke up and had a bit of a cry and then my anxiety went away! It will be all good. Nerves and excitement are often very similar things! You will enjoy it and it will go in a flash. Best of luck to you both ❤️

This is lovely and all you need to think about 😊
Tomorrow you marry the person you love, the very sight of whom calms you and makes you feel OK- that's wonderful 💕

Nothing else matters, just concentrate on standing next to them and looking into their eyes - and have a wonderful day

What a very mean and unhelpful comment, the night before OP’s big day. Why would you post this? You might think it a waste of time and money but as OP says, it’s tradition in their families. You’ve really shown yourself up with this unnecessarily horrible comment.

OP, I hope you have a fabulous day and I’m sure your nerves will, as you say, completely disappear when you see your husband-to-be. All the love and luck in the world. Keep us updated!

Well. How some people can muster the energy to be so spiteful and unkind at this time in the morning is beyond me.
To answer your question op, yes, it’s completely normal to feel anxious and worried before your wedding! You say you know it will go away when you see him, so it’s not him, it’s just the “day”. It’s normal so don’t worry. Have a fabulous time xx

If you're absolutely sure about getting married, can you pinpoint exactly what it is you feel nervous about?
