Would you call the police

I woke up to shouting next door and banging. A man shouting ‘go fucking GO’ really aggressively and female shouting and crying fucking prick and I could hear her crying and then some more banging noises . It’s quietened down but I know they have young children and I feel a bit worried as they’ll know it’s me that called.

@Hayleyy12 i would call. If its domestic violence and someone gets really hurt....

TheSummerof25 · 23/08/2025 07:53

go with your instinct OP.

TheCurious0range · 23/08/2025 07:54

I would because there are children there

BlueJuniper94 · 23/08/2025 07:55

I would

heartsinvisiblefury · 23/08/2025 07:57

Yes

BlueJuniper94 · 23/08/2025 07:58

Is it a man or is it your neighbour? If you have a relationship at all I would go around there myself and just remind him that there are young children in his care. If there's no relationship between you, who cares if he knows you called the police, it might help him reign it in in the future

Fgs - go round to a home where there is clearly an aggressive, angry male and remind him there are young children there? Don't be ridiculous! How the hell do you think that would go?

Only thing to do in this scenario is to call the police, and they will do a welfare check. A passer-by could have heard the commotion from the street, so they won’t know for sure who called the police.

No.
Op has to keep herself safe first.

Call the police.

tripleginandtonic · 23/08/2025 10:04

It's an argument, both shouting and swearing it's quietened down, I can't see what the police would actually do as it's not a 999 situation.

PollyBell · 23/08/2025 10:06

Yes call them but going by past experience it will have to be a repeat thing

Laura95167 · 23/08/2025 12:27

111 call

Coffeeishot · 23/08/2025 12:31

People argue is it an ongoing thing or was this a one off ? Why would the police go to them for an argument that hasnt lasted long ?

YumYa · 23/08/2025 12:34

Laura95167 · 23/08/2025 12:27

111 call

No you mean 101

Yes, you're right. 101. Thanks

Miyagi99 · 23/08/2025 12:57

I’d call 101

Goldengirl123 · 23/08/2025 20:56

couples have arguments. Leave them to it

Hayleyy12 · 23/08/2025 21:17

I actually left it as it went quiet and I’ve never heard them argue before. However, I believe he left and hasn’t returned
