Sharing room with a snorer

I'm going away with friend soon. She snores, loudly. The last time we went away I hardly got any sleep. I could get my own room but then this would make it more expensive for her as she too would need to pay for own room. I plan to take antihistamine to make me sleepy but anyone have any other tips? Thought of a sleep headband with white noise that I saw on Amazon - do they work? Any help would be appreciated.

Just say no. That’s no holiday.

That sounds hellish, I wouldn’t do it.

but if you insist get some Mack’s pillow soft earplugs. They’re the silicone ones and a million times better than the standard foam ones.

Just pay for your own rooms.
When I turned about 30 I realised that I’m a terrible sleeper and would rather spend more for a better nights sleep.
I share with my dh obviously but he relocates to the spare room on a Friday night because he has a couple of drinks and his snoring after beer is too disruptive for me.
I don’t share with friends anymore when we go on weekends away, I want my own space and not to be disturbed by anyone else when I already don’t sleep well, nor do I want to be the cause of anyone else getting disturbed by my tossing and turning and inevitable getting out of bed at 5am.
Do yourself a favour and get your own room!

I'd be honest and say that we need separate rooms as you can't sleep with a snorer. If it costs more, so be it.

Wax earplugs. Game changer!

Midnightlove · 22/08/2025 22:55

I would pay for seperate rooms as I like my own space.. however for going away with dh earplugs work fine for a few days :)

I couldn't share with a snorer. Did you tell her she snores? I'm sure she'll understand.

Hi OP my daughter uses one of those head bands for white noise she loves it. She cannot stand noise when she’s sleeping or any light. She put the headband on eye mask and of course her hair bonnet lol and she’s out like a light. Admittedly I snore loud through my mouth and my rooms next door so I do keep her awake ear plugs were rubbish. Xx

You tell her that she snores so loudly that last time you couldnt sleep and were exhausted so this time you want your own room!

People need to know hiw awful their snoring is!

I once slept in my car on a school trip as the two women I had to share with were fat, slept on their backs and made more noise than a pneumatic drill! It was awful. I had no idea I was expected to share a room until I got there so was so pleased I'd driven!

But yes, the bluetooth headbands are good!
