About to bail from Tokyo Disneysea - it is 35 degrees

Do you get less heat tolerant as you get older? About to bail from Tokyo Disneysea and leave my 20 year old son here on his own. Feeling a bit pathetic but am feeling faint and drenched in sweat. I’m 54. The queues are about an hour for each ride often in direct sun. I have no idea how people are doing it.

I've done Disneyland CA and Paris and the former was hotter but dry. I found cooling towels helpful at both.

I was just focusing on surviving and completely stopped caring what I looked like whilst surrounded by beautiful young Japanese women wearing jeans with immaculate makeup 🤣

I'm 56 and can't even cope with the UK heat OP. Plus any exercise and the sweat is dripping off my head. Drying my hair is a nightmare. I definitely didn't used to be like this, so your age may be playing a part. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday!

I think it was the humidity that caught me off guard as I have always been fine before in the heat but it was probably dry heat thinking back on it.

You sweat here and nothing evaporates.

Makes me grateful to live in Britain considering all the climate change predictions - any hotter than this would be pretty scary without A/C.

Welcome to my life. I am always the sweatiest person anywhere I go 😂Red faced. Hair stuck to me. I have NOT acclimatised at all. Solidarity!

Although don’t let me put anyone off Japan we have had a fabulous time! Hiroshima particularly was really interesting (particularly given the recent anniversary) and would definitely come back again.

I had to give up jogging in the UK in summer as I can’t regulate my temperature at all. But am also the coldest person in the room in the winter. I am a middle aged (melted) snowflake. Am wondering if it is also the result of having a dodgy thyroid?

Sounds hard going @Objectrelations but glad you've had a great time!

We will be there in mid October, @Kurokurosuke do you know what kind of weather we could expect at that time of year?

Just done the zoo Uneo park in 35 degree heat .. hot but they had fans and some cooling stations .. get frozen water each day ( like a bottle frozen or filled with ice chips) drink lots ( loos are everywhere).. and take it easy . It’s been punishing heat wise all over !! It gets better around day 7 !

I hate the heat but recently managed 4 days at Disneyland Paris in 38 degree heat. It was a struggle but I refused to let the heat ruin things! Lots of drinks/fans/hiding in the air on and just make the most of it

October is the perfect time to go. Especially if you go on a weekday. The rain and humidity has let up, and the kids are at school so lines aren't too long. Enjoy!

It's a great place to visit (Japan and Disney)

We’ve done Disney World in Florida on numerous occasions in the summer months.
I also don’t cope well in the heat. My approach was always, arrive for rope drop and head home at 2pm ish.
I can remember going on certain rides purely to get a break from the heat and sit in air conditioning.

I completely sympathise with you, 52 and heat intolerant from entering peri meno. Last year I visited Seoul and Japan in August, due to a gap in jobs and boy did I suffer!
At the end of day 1, I had to make peace with myself that being wet was inevitable, my body just poured from the min I left the hotel to returning. My hair resembled a birds nest and make up was a non starter, as on arrival it ran down my face and slid onto my T Shirt.
Like you I was mesmerised by the elegance wafting past me, women with Matt faces, perfect make up and not a bead of sweat. Whilst the shine from me was blinding.

I did survive and found the water with electrolytes helpful, walking at a snails pace and invested in a UV umbrella and a neck fan. I was beyond the point of caring that i looked like C3PO’s twin.

Japan love face masks and beauty treatments and I did develop a nightly routine of a bath and mask to unwind (maybe with a cocktail in hand).

Have a fabulous time, enjoy the peace of the tubes (nowhere on earth did i experience silence whilst everyone looked at their phones) and toilets, such an experience. I would love to go back for cherry blossom season.
