To seek a diagnosis in my 50’s

Can anyone recommend an online ADHD assessment? I’m ready to throw money at it, not after meds, just a bit of self-compassion and insight after swinging by the seat of my pants for 50 years.

Do you mean you want to pursue a proper private diagnosis for ADHD, or do you want an online screening test that’s often used as an indicator but isn’t an actual diagnosis?

Overthebow · 19/08/2025 17:46

The actual diagnosis procedure will include an actual conversation and also interviewing family members/close friends too.

I used Berkeley Psychiatrists, when you say online you know it’s video calls if not in person?

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 19/08/2025 17:48

Are you in England? If so just go to your GP and ask to be assessed via Right to choose. Usually takes less than 6 months that way.

ADHD direct -terrible name but they’re fully compliant with standards etc. They follow the DSM5

I’m in Wales, I’m after a diagnosis so a video consultation could be fine

I made similar enquiries recently. I was told it would be a 3-hour assessment. PM if you want details

swingingbytheseat · 19/08/2025 17:54

@IamAporcupine thanks will do

SEIK Psychiatry. My DH was diagnosed with ADD by them. Very easy clinic to deal with, very professional and transparent pricing.

Might be worth looking at ADHD Certify. A friend used them for an online ADHD assessment and was able to get a video consultation quite quickly. They said it gave them a lot of clarity about things they'd struggled with for years.

I would suggest asking the SENCO for written observations and a clear support plan while you wait for a formal assessment. Reasonable adjustments such as written instructions, movement breaks, seating support, and regular check-ins may help him manage school more confidently. You may also find it useful to compare the school’s advice with trusted ADHD resources, including ADHD Certify, before your next meeting.
