To ask your plans for long weekend

I have a 10 months old and a 3.5 years old DC and I am looking for some inspiration for long weekend. I looked online and booking a hotel somewhere is very expensive so I am only considering day trips in west Midlands.
Please share your plans for long weekend and any suggestions, hope it will inspire me and others in similar circumstances.

Got some old friends coming up for a weekend of getting squiffy and eating like pigs. We do it every year on the bank holiday weekend and love it!

Edit to say we are west mids as well and there are plenty of nice day trips around here.

Definitely not going anywhere that has places where people go on bank holidays! Traffic, parking, queues, ££, yikes. I will be chilling locally, a walk out if the weather is nice, catch up with some friends, board games, films, get some special food in, I fancy trying to make madeleines, some arts and crafts, a bit of getting my shit organised. Not stressing the last one, need much more than a long weekend to accomplish that, if I’ve trimmed the hedge and my legs I’ll claim that for a win.

I live in a tourist heavy area of Devon, traffic is simply wretched on a sunny bank holiday weekend but it shines such a spotlight on the area, how lucky we are.
As it stands, I’m hoping to take my kids to the beach with my mum one of the days, and to a local zoo/dinosaur park one of the others. We’ve got a house to go and see at one point or another (we’re having to move soon, and it’s someone we know so flexible!) and there’s a classic cars run practically past our doorstep on the Monday, we sit at the end of our lane with drinks and snacks and watch and wave every year. I love it!

My DC are older. We have GCSE results on Thursday so out for lunch/tea to celebrate, lazy day Friday doing house stuff before weekend.

DC are at grandparents on Saturday so DH and I have a 'date' hopefully cocktails in Chester if the sun is out and then Sunday afternoon watching football on tv with BBQ (again weather dependant) and extended family.

We dont really go out over weekend or especially bank holiday as it's so busy.

I'm not familiar with West Midland too much but we really enjoyed Dudley zoo during covid when we had to meet family outside. Not sure how far that is for you.

It's my birthday. I'm going to the local street market, then the vintage market and we're going to cycle to the sea for a swim and a picnic. Then back home for a pint in the local pub.

Happy Birthday @DiordreBarlow - treat yourself to some new retro specs 😜

Thank you @MurdoMunro 😃I'm at an age now where living in the past is entirely acceptable - or that's what I'm telling myself.
