Experiences using varenicline/Champix to quit vaping

TL;DR: tried Allen Carr. Tried patches. Tried cold turkey. Still hooked! Shall I try varenicline?

I'm really really struggling with vaping addiction. I have another thread going in chat but hoped to get some opinions/experiences specifically on using varenicline to quit, if anyone has any?

I managed to stop for about 5wks using patches then the mood dip/cravings got the better of me and I got hooked again. I thought I could have 'just a bit', 'just this evening' but I can't and now I'm on day 5 again and absolutely climbing the walls, cold turkey this time. I've lapsed today and had 1 puff- there are vapes in the house that don't belong to me so I can't throw them all away which doesn't help.

I don't have a plan for if the mood dip sets in again and overall I feel hopeless. The varenicline sounds like it could help- I'm aware there's some negative side effects but the course of tablets isn't that long? But would love to hear any stories.

Yabu- stick with cold turkey
Yanbu- try varenicline

I used champix and haven’t smoked for 15 years. I wouldn’t ever do so again.

I am 6 months quit after almost 30 years smoking 20+ a day. Multiple previous quit attempts.

Don't be disheartened-every time you quit that stage gets a little bit easier and predictable. You just need to find the right product for you and be ready to do it. All my failures were wrong product/wrong time/wrong mindset.

I use the nicotinell mint lozenges and even though a heavy smoker, 2mg ones not the 4s they are too much. Patches don't help me at all and actually cause skin irritation so remind me I have quit!

I found it helpful to use the nhs app and every time I have been tempted to smoke ask " will a cigarette make this situation better" the answer has not been yes yet.

Ive also found it helpful to treat myself with saved money and really remind myself of the negatives (the smell of stale smoke makes me feel sick now. Just that alone will stop me smoking again).

Cold turkey is brutal and although some can do it this way, I wouldn't make yourself so uncomfortable quitting-help yourself and use a product to ease withdrawal.

Good luck-It is hard to quit but you can do it!
