EDF Energy

I am having issues with EDF Energy. In March, they sent me a bill over £900. I paid £400, later the same week sent them my meter readings for both Gas & Electricity. After receiving my energy readings, they sent me an email that they were going to send someone to check my meters, but never did. They also said they were going to investigate why my current readings are so much different from the previous readings. I didn't hear from them again until recently when they sent me a bill of over £1200. Apparently, they recalculated my bill from 2023 to date. I don't understand what's going on. I have always paid my energy bills monthly until March this year after they sent me a huge bill i didn't understand. When I contacted them, I was told their calculations are correct. I am furious right now as that bill does not make sence to me
I live in a 3 bed house, we don't use a lot of gas or electricity since we rarely cook. We don't have gadgets that consume a lot of electricity. We do laundry twice a month. We vacuum house daily, but I doubt this could bring the electricity bill to such a level.
I am planning to leave EDF as I think something isn't right with their calculations

Have you got a smart meter? If you've got the readings, you can work it out yourself to see if they're overcharging.

How many of you live there? How often do you give meter readings? How many clothes do you own that you only do laundry twice a month??!

Their calculations may well be correct. If you haven't been submitting readings, they will have used estimates instead, so they've basically been guessing how much energy you've used. The readings you gave them have brought your account up to date, and are probably much higher than their previous estimates, leading to a big catch-up bill.
