To still feel physically tired and emotional 5 weeks after a car accident

So someone went in the back of my car when I was stationary at a roundabout. A massive bang, jolted me and my passenger and my car was a write off due to structural damage.
6 hours of calls to insurance over 2 weeks, physio for back, neck and shoulder injuries and after coming back from a couple of holidays I am facing the task of finding a new car.
I am tired so often and have to do physio exercises day and night for my injuries. I find myself getting tearful easily and finding a new car feels overwhelming.
Doesn't help of course that I'm 53 and Peri too.
Anyone relate? It's this normal?

Very normal I would think. Be kind to yourself, rest whenever you can and have a cry when you need to! You've had a horrible experience and still recovering! Look after yourself lovely 💐

Its a great pity that there isnt some sort of payment that the at fault party has to make in cases like this to cover the 'unspecified loss's' like the general inconvenience, stress etc

Head on crash on a country lane.. 2 years of nerve-wracking driving before I felt confident again.
Give yourself time op.

You poor thing- sounds very stressful. I had a similar accident with car written off and I replaced the car with the exact same model as I was really rattled and felt less anxious driving something familiar.

Hi OP ,it sounds like it has been very stressful for you. I hope that shortly you can start to feel better. Would a holiday away somewhere be helpful? I

Don’t forget that if you’re doing physio your body is still injured and still adjusting - there will be inflammation and pain and all of this causes your body, immune system, etc to work harder than ever even though you will not be consciously aware of the additional ‘work’

My DD had a nasty accident nearly 2 years ago. Still has flashbacks, still has counselling.

Entirely normal. Sorry to hear of your accident. I had a similar incident last October (I was hit by a lorry) and 10 months on I'm still suffering with neck and shoulder pain, still adding receipts for private treatment to my insurance claim (which will be peanuts compared to the hassle, stress, pain and anxiety caused).and utterly fed up with the whole thing. I'm self employed so had to carry on - I'm also peri, and my anxiety is through the roof these days, particularly as a passenger for some reason (I was driving alone when the lorry hit me).

I definitely completely understand what you're feeling! Take care 💐
