DH came home very early so I could go and see the new 'Sex and the City' film at the local cinema. Brownie points to DH

When I came out to the car, this wanker had in my absence parked so crappy in the space next to my driver side with his/her car a bear 4 inches from my car's rear end and maybe 7" from the front if that.

At 7 months pregnant there is no way I could get in the driver's seat, nor climb over from the other side (cos of bump)

Despite being VERY tempted to key this selfish bastards car, I went back to the complex and asked in the Next shop if there was a security guard who could help me.

This really lovely lady assistant asked what was wrong. Not only did she offer to ring the shopping centre maintance staff who could drag off the other car which would take a while, she also offered to back out my car for me to save me the wait.

I gratefully accepted and even she struggled to get into the drivers seat but at a non-pregnant size 6/8 managed it.

I am wondering if I should write to her manager or head office and point out what lovely helpful staff member she is and how I really thankful for her help. Though I don't want to get her in trouble for leaving the store (only for 1 minute and there were other staff people in the shop)

I just would like to thank her for helping an hormonal pregnant woman...maybe take her a bottle of wine instead ?

Do go and take her something to say thankyou! I am a great believer in praising good service as much as criticising bad service! What a lovely helpful person she sounds!

Indith · 29/05/2008 21:18

I would def go and take her something, then you can also say that you would love to officially praise her but were not sure about the leaving the store thing so wanted check first

poppy34 · 29/05/2008 21:19

how lovely.. I'd write and take her a little pressie.

2shoes · 29/05/2008 21:19

what a lovely lady. oh do write.

Saymyname · 29/05/2008 21:21

That was lovely of her.

Keying the car would have been out of order (and illegal) though, but I'm guessing that wasn't the real point of the thread.

Has also made me very grateful I can still climb over from the passenger side at 7 months pg

blousy · 29/05/2008 21:25

Lovely! Yes write, I would. We're always quick to complain but it's great to acknowledge someone who has been genuinely helpful.

Elmosgirl · 29/05/2008 21:26

How kind... would be lovely of you to thank her in some way as well.

(it wasn't my car you parked next to was it?)

BabiesEverywhere · 29/05/2008 21:56

It was a dark blue big car outside a cinema complex in Bolton.

The driver was very lucky that I do not believe in breaking the law, hence the car remained undamaged.

What a lovely person - random acts of kindness like this make me smile

MsPontipine · 29/05/2008 22:38

How was the film??

2sugars · 29/05/2008 22:42

Lovely lady, but drawing a key through someone's car, no matter how they are - YABU.

BabiesEverywhere · 30/05/2008 08:35

Just in case anyone has misread the title. I HAVE NOT damaged the car in question, I would never damage anyone property. I was just very upset and ranting online.

The film I loved it, just like a longer version of the series. I love some of the outfits and I'm not even into fashion.

Flowers and a card would be lovely! I have in the past left an arsey note on a person's windscreen pointing out their wankerishness thoughtlessness when they have parked absurdly!

madmuggle · 30/05/2008 10:22

Careful with gifts, some stores have a policy where they are not allowed. Cards usually are though

edam · 30/05/2008 10:29

What a lovely lady. Definitely write to her bosses, will mean an awful lot to her.

wotulookinat · 30/05/2008 10:37

What a lovely lady. I'd still have keyed the car though

ajandjjmum · 30/05/2008 10:45

My car was keyed - I hadn't parked badly!

theBOD · 30/05/2008 11:09

was it inside the lines or did it come over into your space?

BabiesEverywhere · 30/05/2008 11:14

The other car was over my line at the back into my space and on my line at the front. It was parked diagnally !!!

I was parked straight, in the middle of the space, within all lines.

Though I am thinking of parking more to the left next time to prevent the same thing happening to me again

Money is tight but I am going to take her a card or small gift and I think I'll email the manger too.

OP posts:
evenhope · 30/05/2008 11:44

You'll find if you park over to the left that the person who parks next to you will do the same and you still won't be able to get in/out

theBOD · 30/05/2008 11:55

grr i hate it when people do that. even worse is when there are pretty much no spaces left except for one beside a reaslly badly parked car so you hve to go in diagnally. resulting in either
a) the gobshit who can't park properly scratching your car
b) him managing to get out but then everyone just sees your car is parked as though owned by stevie wonder and assume your a shit driver.

TinkerbellesMum · 30/05/2008 12:10

I wouldn't worry about any store policy on gifts, you're not giving it to a member of their staff, you're giving it to a lovely lady who you only know works there - IYSWIM.

Personally I would have "tried" to get in the car and, you know there's not that much room to pull the door open, but I do need to try first... (we need an evil face )

I'm not that bad really
