To feel a bit sick when looking at certain celebs?

I have a weird thing where certain people make me feel physically sick/Uneasy. It’s mainly celebrities or people in the public eye.

One example is Jeremy Corbyn. Nothing to do with his politics - it’s something about him.

My latest one is Danny Dyer - especially with a moustache.

Anyone else get this?

Here's an odd one: Daisy Edgar Jones (from Normal People and that Crawdads film). She's pretty of course, but there's an irritating wounded deer vibe about her that makes it hard to watch her.

I must protest at the inclusion of Daisy Edgar Jones.
She is probably A number One of English people who can do a good Irish accent. I know she cheats by having a mum from Norn Iron. But still.

DiordreBarlow · 14/08/2025 16:48

Urghh Jamie Oliver - it's as though he can't keep his tongue in his wet mouth.

Jamie Cullum is another for me. He's like a haunted ventriloquist's doll.

I'm absolutely delighted that I've not been rounded on by half of Mumsnet, for contributing Joanna Lumley early on in this thread!
Whenever I mention my feelings about her in real life, people are horrified! She seems to be universally loved by the entire population, and I'm regarded was the devil incarnate for not being able to stand her 😅

Andrew Tate I find physically repulsive - and I would be repulsed even if I knew nothing about what he is like.

Agree with OP about Corbyn - there's something mouldy about him, but not Danny Dyer who is pretty hot.

I agree with you on Andrew Tate and his brother. They are physically unattractive men who think that just because they go to the gym that makes them attractive to women. It doesn’t. I am a gym girl and what bugs me is the lower part of both their bodies is pretty feeble for “athletes”, poor muscle definition and shape. Aside of their fact they are both repulsive characters, I just don’t get the desire women seem to have for them. Oh that’s right…they don’t.

Caffeineisthenewoestrogen · 14/08/2025 17:55

Michael Flatley definitely, he repels me. I agree with those saying too much filler. Something starts to make the features look slightly off and it’s really off putting. Russell brand always just looks like he needs a good bath.

Starling7 · 14/08/2025 18:03

Eddie Redmayne except in the Jackal where my brain told me he was playing true to himself 🧐 ie he gives me the ick because he seems nice but my subconscious thinks he's a psychopath 😅
Also Kevin Spacey even before the allegations.

Stephen Mulhern

🤣

Leonardo dicaprio because of his weird youth fetish. Always loved his acting too but I feel gross looking at his face.

Starling7 · 14/08/2025 18:05

And Torode and Wallace.

And Natalie Portman in that perfume as when she asks to the camera 'what would you do for love?' ahhhhhhh I have to run to turn the sound down 😅😅😅

Yes Russell brand, annoying hairyness, voice and expressions.

It’s strange how we get these reactions to what the majority of people would consider to be exceptionally handsome / beautiful people and yet I find that the more interesting faces are more attractive like Ed Harris when he was younger, he’s got such a ‘good’ face.

Zac Efron looks scary now too with that Thunderbirds Puppet chin he has had made

I feel this way about Dominic West. He's a really good actor, but the way he bares his teeth like a male gorilla when he smiles makes me leave the room. It feels so malevolent. Didn't help that he was so believable as Fred West.

Same with Walter Goggins. My flesh crawls. And Jack Nicholson.

Edited

Walton Goggins.
I love that man!

I do wonder if we are picking up on some mannerisms or warning signals with these men, as the ones mentioned I wonder if they all have some common feature like little teeth or the way they smile etc. to me the common theme is the fact they are all fake, none of the men mentioned have any warmth to them.

Walton goggins is lovely! I met him at a comic con type thing years ago and he was charming and friendly and just all around fun to be around.

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 18:14

@OwlBeThere brilliant in Justified

Starling7 · 14/08/2025 18:16

I get the same feeling from Come on Eileen - I have to leave if it's playing in a shop 😅

Boutonnière · 14/08/2025 18:19

I’ve been wondering why people were so averse to that rather gentle, fine actor Dominic West then realised I was thinking about Samuel West, son of Prunella and Timothy. Dominic is rather too simian, agreed.

Dontsayyouloveme · 14/08/2025 18:21

EllyRoff · 14/08/2025 08:38

Omg I get this smell association too! I always think Corbyn would smell like laundry that hadn’t quite dried properly and smells all damp and fusty.

Danny Dyer I imagine him smelling of over powering cheap aftershave.

Anyone remember Chris Pontius from Jackass? I always imagined he would smell like semen for some reason!!

occasionally I see famous people and think they smell poo-ey! I can’t even describe what it is that gives me that impression, I think it’s the lower face area or lips… someone in love island gave me proper poo vibes… 🤢

I always think Professor Brian Cox looks like a ventriloquist's dummy.

Ohhh, I can't stand him either 😅😅😅

Fishneedscycle · 14/08/2025 18:33

I find Michael Gove’s mouth very repellent. Shaped like a frog or toad’s and looks wet and slobbery

Starling7 · 14/08/2025 18:35

Jimmy Carr,
Johanthon Ross,
Boy George,
David Walliams,
Will I am,
Vanessa Felz
Ruth Goodman
Ricky Tomlinson
Ant and Dec
the list goes on

Yes! Will I Am - my subconscious sees him as a bad person

You’re not the only one 😆. Am very relieved it’s not Sam West

Violetparis · 14/08/2025 18:48

Alan Cumming and Johnny Depp give me the creeps.

Leonardo DiCaprio's features look too small IMO. Like someone has drawn a face with a goatee onto an egg.
