France holiday - heatwave

Just wondering if anyone is travelling to France this week? We had booked a holiday to Provence with our 9yo and I was so excited but looking at the temps of 37-38 degrees I’m panicking a bit and almost tempted not to go. Not sure how to handle or what to do. DP says it will be fine and we will adapt but I don’t want to be trapped in the Airbnb for most of the day! AIBU?

Our Aldi is brand new and really good. Other Lidl and Aldi stores, awful.

To be fair, as supermarkets go, Leclerc is probably the best. French supermarket fruit and veg isn't great quality though (understatement!), I was really surprised when we moved here. We buy from the market sometimes, but mainly from the organic producer in our hamlet, her stuff is out of this world.

I have moved and lived all over Europe, and by far the UK has the best supermarkets! With an incredible array of choice and international food (something lacking in France) and can not be beaten. I came back home to live and spent three hours wondering around Waitrose!! 😂 Especially if you have intolerances, vegan or love organic food xx

Edited

Sorry but what UK supermarkets have the huge rows of veg, fruit, chesses, fish.. meats that you get in France??
Just come back from Morrisons, empty shelves, fruit/veg all wrapped, no bananas, limited choices in jams and chocolate, our nearest Tesco is terrible and was recently a topic on our local FB page for how awful it is.

When you can get fruit/veg, better eat the same day or it will be off.

This is a very common opinion in the area... its depressing going shopping here and yes i lived in France for 2 years, for work.

But it is totally subjective

Don't cancel just be prepared.
Body Cooling Spray.
A hot water bottle at night if it's hot filled with cold water.

Thanks for all the responses. Loads of good suggestions there. The body mist spray sounds like a must have. Will hunt out all the aircon places and I’ve taken a couple of good books. Main thing is I hope DS9 doesn’t get too bored. I’ll let you know how good (or bad) in turns out to be 😜

France has a lot of Plan d'eau's ... outdoor swimming lakes/pools... often with shaded picnic areas.
