M&S school wear in a small local shop???

So when M&S were going through their cyber attack, a small shop near me was stocking M&S school wear at a cheaper price. I picked up 4 dresses for my daughter but now I’m looking at them M&S has been taped over with back tape or cut out of the labels🤣
now I’m worried they got hold of it because it’s defective in one way or another, aibu to be wary of this? Should I buy more?

Probably just seconds. I'm sure the clothes will be fine.

seconds and/or stolen, obvioulsy. Up to you whether you buy more. Seconds doesnt mean it will spontaneously combust or the seams fall apart as they walk into school though.

If you can't see a defect what are you concerned about being wrong?

I’m not sure, maybe that it didn’t pass fire testing or something🤷🏻‍♀️ they’ve all got tags on so maybe it was just last years stock that they couldn’t clear

When I was a student, there was a stall at the Saturday market near the college which sold recognizably M&S clothes which were seconds.
The flaws could usually be spotted, and they were usually small and easily fixed; M&S set high standards when quality checking, and as a hard-up student, I was glad of a bargain.

I'm not sure how my children have survived, it would never occur to me that bargain school might be a fire hazard 😂

Probably factory seconds or overruns

What do you think they'll do - explode? Probably just factory seconds, so the odd wonky seam or whatever.

Have you really never come across cut label branded clothing before ?There are many resellers of factory seconds or over runs. They damage the label to stop you trying to return it to store. It’ll be fine. It might not have straight seams or hem, or it might be slightly the wrong size or some minor flaw, but it will be ok.
