To be totally pissed off with this comment from a supposed friend?

I had a conversation with a male friend on MSN. He apparently thinks that I'm a liability because I'm supposedly bipolar and I have two children and that I'm lucky I'm good looking because if I wasn't no man would ever be interested in me again and I would be single for the rest of my life.

He said my life hangs on my face and boobs

I'm probably being over sensitive and should ignore, of course. But I thought he was a friend. Is this the general view of people everywhere?

Electra, maybe he was trying to say what he thinks some men might think, it probably isn't his own opinion IYSWIM.

Don't know why but makes me think of when I was out with my then bf, we were at the exciting early stages of our relationship and he said to me "Since splitting up with x I've decided to not go for looks again but for personality"...

you know he might sort of be trying to tell you you'll be lucky to get any bloke you can[ie him] beings you have with kids etc.

delete him off of your friends list imo.

Lauriefairycake · 28/05/2008 23:42

Do you choose your enemies this well

ignore him, he is a twonk (and he's probably pissed off you haven't given him the 'benefit' of your body)

electra · 29/05/2008 00:01

Yes, I think I will put him on extinction. He genuinely doesn't realise how unacceptable it is to say stuff like that...

@ put him on extinction.

I avoid anyone who makes me randomly feel worse about things. Life's too short.

electra · 29/05/2008 00:03

Absolutely, Jimjams

And the definition of 'friend' is what, exactly? Because if it's 'git who says really nasty things to me and treats me with contempt', then I think we should find a new definition for enemy, tbh.

electra · 29/05/2008 00:09

lol - I agree, oddly enough though I've known him for years. You're right though. I wouldn't dream of saying such a thing. The problem with him is that he says everything that pops into his head which obviously is not socially acceptable.

what a wanker

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2008 06:18

No, you are not being over sensitive! Unless there's a lot more to the conversation that we don't know and totally changes his context...no, I can't even imagine what that might be.
He's an idiot

YeahBut · 29/05/2008 06:35

He's a tosser. And he's trying to lower your expectations far enough so that he becomes attractive.

sleepyeyes · 29/05/2008 11:00

He is no friend very nasty and cruel, and VERY small minded.
If I was you I would delete him from your Msn friends and your life.

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2008 11:13

What a horrible thing to say! Agree with others, you don't need friend like him!

NotQuiteCockney · 29/05/2008 11:15

Yeah, my first impulse was 'he fancies electra, and she doesn't fancy him back - so he's being a shit'.

Not a friend.

electra · 29/05/2008 12:04

Yeah, I think you've hit the nail on the head tbh. Thanks all of you - it's amazing how something so silly can get you completely down....but I think that has to do with my state of mind at the moment.
