Tops for Women that aren’t cropped

Ok so hear me out , I feel there is nothing for women aged 30-60 in terms of tops. If they cover your belly then they are frumpy, otherwise you go with cropped or some sort of bloody hole cut out to show your skin.

If there was a dedicated clothing line of just tops for women that were longline, good quality material and plentiful designs, would you purchase?

But there's loads of tops out there that aren't cropped or frumpy? Just need to look on Next or M&S or Asos etc

solacola · 07/08/2025 16:23

But I would say there's more of an appetite for good quality long lasting now as opposed to fast fashion.

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 07/08/2025 16:29

I love longline tops and usually just Google Shop the search terms or look on Vinted. If there were a dedicated range I would probably buy.

applebee33 · 07/08/2025 16:39

Yes I find vinted good for sourcing longer length tops but I feel brands are just not making fashionable tops in that style. They are either way too casual or over the top with gaudy patterns

I really like the Love & Roses tops in Next, being tall I have real issues with top length.

Chocolatebunny61 · 07/08/2025 20:09

I totally agree @applebee33. I’d definitely buy from a range like that. I really struggle to find tops and jumpers that are nice but long enough to cover up all my lumps and bumps.

Scorpio75kaz · 07/08/2025 20:20

Omg! I hear you! So sick of seeing nothing but crop tops. Can’t wear those anymore sadly. Yes I’d definitely be interested 🤣🤣

Branleuse · 07/08/2025 20:26

You literally just have to look in a few clothes shops to see that there are a range of styles available. This week I have been in primark, tkmaxx, h&m, new look, m&s, next and have seen longer length tops in all of them.

Floundering66 · 07/08/2025 20:31

I feel like I just live in over-size t shirts now. Hard to find a top that doesn’t make me feel like a frump. I’m 35, size 12-14 and feel too fat to wear crop tops. I always feel frumpy when I’m out with my size 8 friends that still look fab in them!

Exactly what I was going to say.

Me too - it’s my go to brand now for t shirts and tops! Flattering styles and the sizing is reliable.

Exactly what I was going to say.

I went into M and S specifically for a black top that didn't show my stomach. No chance, they all lifted advice my jeans when I put my arms at 90 degrees, let alone above my head.

It's not difficult is it?

Primark have done brilliant one but haven't seen them for a few months.

Well I was literally in m&s this morning and trying on tops and didn’t have this issue at all.

Different strokes for different folks.

I am 38 and have a bloated perimenopause c section belly. I found a great longer top on vinted, it is River island and is baggy ish but is elasticated on the bottom so I can hook it underneath everything and still wear my jeggings. It's my fave and I can't find any more similar!!!!

I have a short torso and still can have this issue, less so in next and M&s but can see people with longer torsos totally having an issue. Not everyone has the same body shape.

I am a size 14-16 and buy most of my tops from Bloom chic. The quality is great and they have lots of lovely options. Start at a 14 though so not suitable for anyone slimmer

PomegranateVase · 08/08/2025 09:31

I bought 2 lovely tops in the Mango sale recently, and 2 T-shirts in M&S that are standard length in my opinion - I.e they do not show my midriff or belly button and go over my large stomach.

I have only recently started tucking my tops in and feel this has revolutionised my whole look and confidence, but still need tops that are long enough to enable this, and it is challenging to find these.

I have no idea why retailers think everyone wants to, or is able to wear crop tops! I would love to feel I had the figure to carry this off and feel confident but as I don’t, I won’t.

JillMW · 08/08/2025 16:01

I tend to buy mine in Italy or Spain, so much choice, lovely quality, fit, style and price. If you are not going to Europe on your hols take a look at some of the European brands in line

Defiantly41 · 08/08/2025 16:39

Just posted this on a different thread. These are lovely quality, plain colours only and really long, the ruched hem or straight tight hem on the short sleeved one with ones keep them down around the hips https://bambooclothing.co.uk/category/womens-bamboo-clothing/womens-tops/short-sleeve-tops/

Volturra · 08/08/2025 16:47

Not crop tops, but last year I struggled to find jumpers I liked that didn’t end around the waistband of my jeans. I want a decent overlap so I’m not constantly self-consciously tugging my clothes down to avoid sharing my belly with the world.

BuildbyNumbere · 08/08/2025 17:42

You need to look for longline or the tall range.

IlovePhilMitchell · 08/08/2025 17:48

YES I WOULD!!!!

Im 5ft10 and I've struggled with this since being a teen and now I'm nearly 40 it’s even worse.

Most longline stuff is basic or a smock.

I have to wear T-shirt dresses and vest dresses as tops and shirt dresses.

Grapewrath · 08/08/2025 20:59

I’m mid 40s and wear cropped tops as most of my trousers are high waisted and longer line tops don’t work- there’s no belly on show just a tiny gap between the top and jeans/leggins.
H&M do longer length tops as I wear them to work

I've seen loads of sites with tops that aren't cropped but not necessarily frumpy either, however you do have to search a bit harder. I think bc high waist, wide leg is quite trendy now, longer tops look incredibly frumpy with those hence the shorter length. They are def out there though. I personally love a cropped top though and I fall within that age group.

Wingedharpy · 09/08/2025 00:42

Could I put in a plea for bust darts too please?
Those of us who are blessed in the bosom department require clothing that has been cut and sewn to accommodate said bosom - otherwise garments just hang from the nipple area and give the impression of a shapeless torso beneath, looking several sizes larger than it actually is.
