To ask what would you do? Driving me crazy…

First world problem I know…
Moved house and still very much in the sorting stage! So excuse the mess. I’m trying to sort out my wardrobe, where do I put the dresses? 🤣

Picture one is with them in with the coats which I really wanted to avoid as I wanted to keep that section just for coats.

Second picture is them in with pretty much the rest of my clothing, there’s a lot missing here though… all of my tshirts, some jumpers etc. And they are hanging over to one side of the bottom rail. So therefore blocking some hanging space.

Which would you do?help…

Go back to the system you like even if it doesn’t look pretty like the second

Kitchenbattle · 06/08/2025 15:32

Yeah first option looks better I’ll just have to change my mindset I suppose 🤣🤣🤣

Hang them on the short rail using the 2 hanger method. Hang the dress on the first hanger as normal then if too wide fold the 2 sides in carefully do it doesn't crease and slip the bottom of the dress over the flat bar of a second hanger. It easier and quicker than I've made it sound. Google it.

I’d put the coats on the top rail, have the picture one rack as the dress rack and maybe smart clothing or summer clothing and bottom rail as casual or winter clothes

Ohhh I thought the bottom rail wasn’t a full rail and where the dresses were was a full length slice where the long coats could go.

In that case, scrap my idea and go with the two hanger solution.

Yeah it’s too full rails in that section. I think 2 hanger may be the way to go…

Is there a separate place to keep the coats? Mine are in a hallway cupboard - they are not allowed to darken my bedroom wardrobe! Do you have a cwtch under the stairs? A porch? Mainly because I live near a beach and sand gets everywhere, particularly on coats, even if you shake yourself like a wet dog before you go in the house…

labradormam · 06/08/2025 16:17

What’s the two hanger method? I googled it but couldn’t see anything and couldn’t figure it out from the description…

CoastalCalm · 06/08/2025 16:22

I would use trouser hangers and fold the dresses in half and clip

We don’t have that built in under the stairs yet but eventually there will be yes.

Ah cool. Good idea. Can you get under the bed storage until they’re made? It’s summer after all - not much call for coat-wearing… and I say that as someone who lives in Wales!
