To think parents shouldn’t allow this?

Arrived back into Heathrow late last night. We were standing by the luggage carousel. Some children - three little boys - were riding the carousel, sitting on it for a few yards, getting up then doing it again. Parents did nothing to stop them. AIBU to think children should be taught that the whole world is not a playground and not everything is a toy? They could have got hurt, got their clothing caught and dragged along or something.

Well, of course they shouldn't, but there are some parents who don't give a shit, and they would be blaming everyone else except themselves if something happened.

YNBU but they were probably absolutely shattered coming back from holiday with 3 young kids and turned a blind eye while their kids were entertained for a few mins….. Probably sick of hearing “Mam Mam Mam Mam” and turned themselves off for a few mins of peace 🫣😂

Those carousels are dangerous. So it shouldn't be allowed but from a safety perspective, rather than a 'don't annoy others' perspective. Late at night, kids been penned up on a plane. There is going to be over the top tired energy going on. Annoying yes. Unreasonable? Not really.

At Gatwick a few years ago a young man (probably inebriated) walked across the carousel. Staff switched it off and we all had to wait 15 minutes until it was switched back on so that we could all 'think about just how dangerous that was'.

There’s no excuses. I don’t care how tired the parents are, this is awful parenting

There was a post on another thread about not getting in the way of Darwinism. I think it fits this situation perfectly.

Of course not. But your thread title should have been "to think these parents shouldn't allow this" instead of making it a generalisation like there are droves of parents doing this all the time. I fly a lot and have never seen anyone do this.

Can you give a link please?

Agree, so many ‘yeah buts’ though.

I personally think there should be an exclusion zone of at least 2m around the carousel for U10s (or even older)

And for full context, I used to regularly fly alone with 2 small children, so yes, I know how hard it is!
