How do you cancel a person?

I am not sure that he is still popular Op.

A quick google suggests he spends his time behind the cameras as a producer, which is probably a good thing as his acting style definitely had a shelf life.

Either way, he has enough $$$ to not worry about it.

I think so? Unless it was proven he did that. Was it proven? I happen to believe he did exactly what I said above btw. He found the poor woman dead and freaked out about how it would effect him and his career. So he left her body there and went out that night and behaved like nothing happened.

This is abog problem with social media facts and rumors become bloated to many believe it on social media so it gospel truth what your saying sounds a lot like speculation powered by social media and no one really knows the truth we can't cancel everyone because social media says so

He was a contentious character way back in his Punked days. Very easy to dislike. It seems to be his romantic partners that people find redeeming, for some reason.

True. That’s why I said I could easily believe that’s what happened. Maybe if he didn’t have such a long history of being a cunt I wouldn’t believe that’s what happened. It’s a bias against him maybe? I never liked Diddy so despite him only being found guilty of some of the charges against him I have no problem believing he’s guilty of all of it.

I haven't seen him in anything since The Ranch - I think his close friendship with Danny Masterson, the resurfacing of an old interview regarding a young Mila Kunis, plus association with Diddy, has probably affected his career already, without the 'need' to officially cancel. I doubt he's anyone's first choice of cast member rn.

'Cancel' as a concept, pisses me off. These are peoples lives and careers we are talking about - if you aren't a proven criminal, then you have a right to earn a living without other people calling for you to be cut off. Even if you are unlikeable or have opinions that other people disagree with!

I don't actually condemn famous people for not wanting to hash out their personal experiences with exes in the public domain. Someone like JLo shouldn't 'have' to talk about a relationship that ended probably 25 years ago or be condemned by association, esp an historic one. We cannot assume that every celebrity knows every aspect of another person's behaviour. We cannot assume they knew and didn't care.
I think the real problem is if they support known rapists etc.
I still think about the people who publicly supported Roman Polanski in full knowledge of what he did. Why would AK get cancelled but the celebs who gave RP a standing ovation, not be?
One of the issues with cancellation is that the 'rules' of who gets it and why are seemingly arbitrary.

If you remember in The Crucible, it was actually women condemning women.

In the Depp/Heard trial it was mostly female fans of Depp who pushed the social media backlash against Heard which has resulted in her being cancelled. Love her or loathe her, its largely women who are invested in trying to cancel Meghan Markle.

I don't think it's limited to women seeking retribution against men.

Of course she has mixed feelings. He treated her appallingly but being a (very) bad boyfriend is not grounds for cancellation. Nor should it be.

I can't remember exactly but didn't they initially defend writing them or something? Until the volume of public backlash got so loud and they both had a sudden epiphany and apologised.
