Was I in the wrong to do this?

My DD has just had chicken pox. She’s completely scabbed over now. But it is obvious she’s had them still, as scabs haven’t dropped off. However she is all completely scabbed. She missed her birthday outing due to having chicken pox so we took her for her birthday meal today at a local carvery. She came to the serving bit with me. The man serving was putting new things out as some were running low and said to us ‘’at least I’m not cross contaminating’’ and then looked at us with eyebrow raised. I was confused what he meant but now I think he meant it towards us. Was I in the wrong?

also, they’ve been scabbed over for a couple of days now. And she is completely well in herself

No, if they are all scabbed over then it’s ok

You did nothing wrong by taking her out. I'd have given the server a piece of my mind 😤

I think you are being paranoid.

I would guess the server was making some kind of comment about not cross contaminating the food - it's not a phrase generally used about illness or infections. i wouldn't dwell on it.

I think you would have to assume it was a dig at you as there’s no other context. It’s rude I would have complained.
