To think that nobody knows how to have fun anymore?

Everyone’s either too busy, too cynical or too glued to their screens to actually enjoy life. Whatever happened to just being present and having a laugh?

I've only ever heard that said by someone wanting others to participate in unwanted sex or alcohol.

I think it's really sad that so many people equate " having fun" with drinking alcohol.

Personally I think the amount of people obsessed with taking selfies, photographing every occasion instead
of enjoying it, and spending so much time looking in the mirror and worrying about their looks has a lot to do with their ability to " have fun".

Perhaps that's their idea of fun. I wasn't aware that there was an objective measure for it.

Depends what you class as fun. My eldest and I prefer days out. Neither of my dds go out drinking, both are working and not got the time or energy to go on nights out.

I think young people drink less alcohol so that might be one reason.

My DC in their 20s definitely still drink alcohol, plenty of it, so do most of their mates.

@HappyPlayer
Is your question around ‘people’ not having fun any more related to people you know in your own life, across all ages, or do you mean young people, as I see a lot of the discussion on the thread seems to be about. I guess for a lot of people they are maybe working very hard, have young families and are worried about money so fun isn’t high on their agendas. People I know in younger and older age groups are still enjoying themselves even if it’s not every day.
