People who use their maiden and married names, I need your advice

So. I use both names. My passport has both names in it.
My driving license is in my maiden name.

I've been caught speeding but cannot do any of the online paperwork because the policy computer says the driver ID on my driving licence is wrong.
This could be because the car is registered in my married name (because I had a brain fart when I bought it and used DH's surname).

Mind you, years ago when only my NHS records were in my married name (used it when I had the kids) I couldn't hire a car because the hire company didn't recognise the driver ID. Ive renewed the Licence since then with no difficulty.

Is it a 2 name problem?
Has anyone else had this issue?

And yes, Imbu for using 2 names but I am my maiden name, but my professional registration is in my married name and I didn't use his name at all, for anything until I had kids.

I can't renew my driving licence online for this reason (it's in my maiden name, passport in married). But they can renew it for me, retaining maiden name, if I go in person to the Post Office. Is that worth a try?

Sorry, just re-read and realised it's probably the insurance paperwork you mean. Maybe give them a ring?

It's speeding fine that I can't resolve...

Insurance and license renewal were a doddle!

Sorry. That was a big omission...

Yep have had exactly the same thing. The code within your driving licence contains aspects of your surname, so the name of the driver in the online portal needs to match the name on the driving licence. It doesn't need to match the name on the police letter because its not necessarily always the owner of the car who drives it. Hope that helps.
