Can anyone help me understand when nursery hours and tax free childcare will stop in this context?

DD is 5 in November 2027.

I can’t get my head around whether she will get nursery hours and tax free childcare until November 2027 or will it stop when she turns 4? If so what are we supposed to do for the 10 months until the following September (between nov 2026 and September 2027)? Thank you

Taxfree childcare lasts until they are at the end of primary (11/12) or older if disabled, assuming you meet the criteria. You can still use it for Ofsted registered childcare like some after school clubs.

The 30 hours for nursery is usually done by terms which is quite annoying. I can't remember the exact situation as it was years ago for us but think it ended in July before they started school. Hopefully someone with more recent knowledge will be along

The 30 hours nursery finishes at the end of the term before they are to start Primary school. So the July when she is 4 as she will start Primary in the September when she is 4.

She will have started school in sept 2027 (presuming your in England) so nursery hours stop but tax free childcare continues as you can pay for before/after school and holiday clubs out of this.

The free hours end when they reach compulsory school age, so the term after they turn 5. So for example, a summer born child who deferred starting reception would be able to continue accessing them despite being old enough to go to school. Your son will be entitled to the free hours until he starts school.

30hrs funded childcare ends when they start reception.

Tax-free childcare ends when they leave primary school, so you can use it to pay for school wraparound care.

(Subject to eligibility criteria/threshold etc etc.)

One post here says the nursery hours last until a child starts school (September) and another says until the summer term ends. What has it been for people? My child is 4 and school doesnt start until Sept 4th, so do I get nursery hours Sept 1-3?

No, they end at the end of August. For the purposes of free hours, terms are 1st sept, 1st Jan, 1st April.

The last section on this page confirms it https://familyinfo.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/childcare-and-early-years/paying-childcare/30-hours-childcare/different-ways-to-use-your-30-hours-childcare/

This depends on where you are in the country OP for the funded nursery hours.

The tax account is a long way off as long as both parents working and no individual parent earning over 100k
