to go to the GP for a corn on my toe?

It's definitely a corn. Not very big and is a hard lump on the side of my toe, where my little toe rubs against it. I've had a gait analysis done and bought some trainers that fit me properly, but it's SO painful when running. Not sure if they will just tell me to buy a corn plaster or to leave it alone. Not sure it's worth the hassle of trying to get an appointment as the last form I put in to my GP was ignored until I phoned them to chase a week later. Does anyone know of any miracle cures? Or should I go to my GP?

Okay
You don't get something for nothing in this world but I;m going to give you some for gratis

You know at the top of the threads it says something like "be aware the advice on here cannot be verified , seek a professional"

The OP @CallieMcNalleee has said I am immunocompromised (lupus)

Thirty seconds of searching found me information on Lupus UK (you can find the leaflets online) state not to use them.
So you can choose to follow Professional advice .....or random internet advice
Probably the same ones who advice fishing about in a childs ear with tweezers or getting into an infected cyst with a needle and a squeeze Hmm

Yes they sell corn plasters in pharmacies
But they sell a lot of things in shops that aren't safe .

I can't afford to go to a podiatrist (none take self referrals, they all say they need a GP referral), but will try a pharmacist. The local podiatrist website says corn plasters are not advised by podiatrists as they can burn and the corn might just come back worse, but not sure if that's just because they want people to pay for their services!

Corn plasters really do burn - I use them.

However it’s a few days of a different comfort and then corn comes off and usually stays away for a few years until it comes back. No bigger or better than before!

I’ve had the repeated corn for about 20 years now and other than a week every 2-3 years of the burning it’s never really caused me an issue.

If you live in England you don’t need a referral.
look for a chiropodist rather than a podiatrist.

A good rule is:

  • eye problems go to an optician
  • teeth/mouth problem go to a dentist
  • foot problem go to a chiropodist or podiatrist
GPs are generalists so specialists on one aspect are better.
