If your 15 year old was going to a party (supervised by parents at the house) how much alcohol would you allow them to take with them?

None....15 is too young.

Scarlettpixie · 31/07/2025 20:31

2 cans of weak cider but only if they’d had some previously.

Zero.

Yikes.

SI85 · 31/07/2025 20:32

Definitely none.

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 31/07/2025 20:32

I personally would rather have control and either buy alcohol pops or premixed drinks. But only a couple.

Morningsleepin · 31/07/2025 20:33

Why do you think they need alcohol to have a good time?

ThatLoudBear · 31/07/2025 20:33

4 pack or a bottle of wine.

mrsm43s · 31/07/2025 20:33

Now, I'm a pretty chilled Mum, but at 15, none. At 16 maybe 2 cans of weak beer/cider/cheap premixed cocktail.

Biggest thing I'd insist on, if alcohol is at the party, you collect them, and no sleeping over.

WhenYouSayNothingAtAll · 31/07/2025 20:34

What’s the setup here? Do the parents know/expect the teens to bring alcohol? Does the teen want to? What do they normally drink? How much? Have you had conversations about safe drinking, limits etc?

waitingforthehallmarkedman · 31/07/2025 20:34

I have a 15 year old and the answer is 0

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/07/2025 20:35

Uhhh... none?
I'd be questioning the parents and likely wouldn't let my kid go.

Noshadowsinthedark · 31/07/2025 20:35

None.

Are the parents ok with children coming to their house with alcohol!?

Thing is, the parents might be there but they might be upstairs with the door shut escaping a houseful of 15 year olds. That is how I managed to have such an unpleasant initiation into cheap cider drunkenness! Are the parents allowing the guests to bring alcohol? Would some 0% Kopparberg not be a better idea?

Shayisgreat · 31/07/2025 20:36

I'm also in the none group. 15 is too young.

Pringlebeak · 31/07/2025 20:37

I have a 15 year old and I've always made it clear to her that while I understand teens drink, it would be irresponsible of me to officially condone it. She accepts that as reasonable.

I completely agree. If you don’t let a 15 year old take something to a party, assuming the parents who are hosting the party will allow it, they will only get it from somewhere else.

spoonbillstretford · 31/07/2025 20:38

DD2 (16) tends to take a ready mixed cockail bottle ostensibly to share and drinks the whole lot herself. She is 5'10" and 10 stone though. It doesn't make her drunk or give her a hangover.

Agree. I'd definitely recommend removing the mesh waste paper basket from the 15 year olds room after said party too...

AbzMoz · 31/07/2025 20:39

1-2 beers / alcopops, a couple of soft drinks, and a bag of crisps / sweets.
I’d make clear that they only drink what they’ve taken. I assume other parents / guests are being told the same thing?
