Travelling to USA which card to use?

DH and I are doing a little 2 week roadtrip to USA for my big Birthday soon. DH thinks we just use our usual visa card - but looking at it, seems like charges will mount up as we will be staying in different locations/ eating out etc. Does anyone have any advice for the best travel card to use so that we don't get hit with charges too badly? It's the first time we've done this type of holiday, moving around a lot, so any help would be appreciated. TIA

I am using my Barclaycard, which is free to use all over the world. I definitely wouldn't use a card with fees - it's expensive enough as it is!

Halifax Clarity credit card is good for travelling - no non-Sterling transaction fees.

Always pay in dollars and be aware that in a lot of restaurants they still take your card away. Also they do this funny thing where once you’ve signed they then charge the tip to your card and that doesn’t always work with a British card. If you want to tip you have to go to the machine.
