To think men don’t fear women - they fear being embarrassed by women?

It’s not about danger. It’s about ego.

You're right. There was a thread on here recently about a woman who had rightly called a man out on the group chat and his wife had messaged the OP to say the man was upset. He wasn't upset, he was embarrassed his ego had been hurt after he was called out in hurtful and inappropriate comments.

Absolutely.

I read once that women are scared men will kill them. Men are scared women will laugh at them.

Who said men fear women?

BallerinaRadio · 30/07/2025 12:21

What sort of context are you talking about?

Who said men fear women?

I don’t think many men would phrase it that way out loud but actions and reactions often speak louder. The discomfort, mockery or hostility some express when a woman outsmarts them, rejects them or challenges them in public isn’t about physical fear. It’s about ego. The fear isn’t of women, it’s of being diminished by one.

I agree that men can be controlled by their egos and don’t take it well when women do anything that makes them look less than perfect, but if they aren’t claiming fear women, I don’t really understand the point of your OP.

What sort of context are you talking about?

I’m talking about situations where a woman embarrasses, outshines, or publicly rejects a man - things like turning him down in front of others, outperforming him at work, calling out bad behaviour, or even just making a joke at his expense. In those moments, it’s often not danger men react to but bruised pride. That’s the kind of fear I meant - social, not physical.

To think not all men or women think the the same and not sure why there are so many threads that that start 'to think'

TaborlinTheGreat · 30/07/2025 12:29

Yes, it's a pretty well-known concept due to the famous quote by Margaret Attwood mentioned above. 'Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.'

Emotions are something a person chooses to feel, nor something forced upon them. So a person can't be embarrassed by another.

There may be some people who have self esteem issues, and choose to feel embarrassed in response to anothers actions or words, but I don't think it's very common.

This applies to all people.
