Children’s party?

I’m doing a party soon which is at an outdoor venue from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. No room for a sit down meal. Possibly could have a table for snacks for the kids to graze on. I haven’t stipulated on the invitation I wouldn’t be providing a meal. Do you think it would be okay to do just snacks, sweets and cake?

I suppose I could do a takeaway sandwich box. About seven parents haven’t rsvp so haven’t got numbers to ask dietary requirements.

Child would be six.

It’s a meal time so parents will likely expect their children get food but snacks and sweets and cake is all kids want at a party anyway so I can’t see an issue!

It isn’t being held at a time a regular mealtime would ordinarily fall inside so I think cake and snacks is fine - but you do need to let parents know beforehand so they don’t opt not to give their kid lunch in anticipation of there being lots of party food.

Make this as simple as possible - packaged juice/water, fruit, chopped veggies, cookies etc.
Make sure that any allergens are labelled - maybe as parents arrive they can bag up what’s ok for their own kid?

Can’t you just do sandwiches, sausage rolls cucumber and carrot sticks, crisps, sweets and cake?

As a guest I would give my kids something to eat before attending a party at that time; I wouldn't assume lunch was included. I did once go to a kids party where there was no food at all until the cutting of the cake at the end, and it was a little chaotic with lots of hangry / manic kids, but I think snacks and cake is fine. I would include a few snacks that are slightly more substantial / proteinous like sausage rolls just in case anyone does arrive with an empty stomach.

I’d just buy those lunch boxes, sandwich, cake , drinks and a treat.

So I was thinking of having packets of crisps in a basket, cooked sausage rolls, cooked chicken nuggets, a box of haribo, water melon sliced up, box of cookies, breadsticks, cucumber and carrots. Could potentially do a couple of plates of sandwiches as well. It’s for around 20 kids and looking at around 25c so a bit worried on keeping things out in the open too.

That sounds more than enough. You are overthinking!
