Chicken pox?

Mammy2024 · 26/07/2025 09:07

Started on lower abdomen Thursday evening more and more have come since and they are on belly some on chest, back, some in the nappy area.

Passes the blanch test barring the few that have tiny scabs on them.

He's had a cough past few days which apparently is common with chicken pox. He also goes to nursery where there has been cases a few weeks back.

Just looks so mild! Or is it mild on day 2?

Thanks

I would say from the ‘blistery’ look of the spot in the last picture yes it’s chicken pox.

There's only a couple like that at present, is that normal? Can chicken pox stay small like his or do they always get big and aggressive?
I've looked at viral rashes but these look too independently spaced to be that.

That doesn’t look like a viral rash (exanthem) , IME the ones that come with colds, RSV etc don’t normally have blisters. Looks like chicken pox or Molluscum (cough could be a red herrirng). Hard to tell from pics.

for DS CP started with one blister behind his ear. By day 5 he was covered in red spots. Not all of them formed heads and they were all sizes. They were very red under the blisters.

It could also be HFM with you mentioning nappy area. Had to take DD to the docs to confirm which horrible blister virus she had as she didn’t have them on hands, feet or mouth, they were on her ears, arms and bum. It was HFM though.

Thanks for your reply! What is confusing me most is the lack of blisters, they are very few and far between! Also, they look very small, is that typical for chicken pox? I'm not sure what else it could be!
