in wanting to redesign the kitchen rather than move house?

if baby is another girl then we will have two girls in each bedroom.

the one problem area is out living room/diner as there is so little space in here.

i think this could be rectified by redesigning the kitchen thu8s leaving a corner of the kitchen larger enough to fit a dining table for 6 people.

obviously this would cost a bit, but am so stressed about the idea of moving home yet again.

No, YANBU. I totally agree with you. I absolutely cannot face moving ever again, and I will be going out of here in a box.

I spent hours/days/weeks redesigning or house to utilise the space we need all possible with a bit of redesigning and a fair bit of dosh!!!

if baby is a boy then we will have to move eventually.

the kitchen was put in by the council before we moved here but its so badly designed it makes me want to scream.

dh dad is an excellant kicthen planner, so would need to rely on famiy to help out with the design and build, and would go to places like ikea, and do a lot ourselves.

but i really cant facing moving again. have moved home 5 times in 10years.

and i like it here. its close to the chidlrens school and nursery, and apart from petty vandalism its an ok area.

if the baby is a boy you still 7 or 8 years in which you won't need to move - that's a long time of having a badly planned kitchen. Ours is a large kitchen with a huge amount of floor space but nowhere to put a table and all the worktop space is split up - drives me demented!

ours is an odd shape. but could have a well planned L shaped kitchen over two walls and leave one fair sized corner for a table and chairs.

Jusst do it you will benefit from it every day even if it is just for 6 or 7 years.

need to clear other debts first, then can save towards the kitchen.

just so much of out living room is taken up with a silly folding table and we only have a 3 seater sofa.

I think it sounds a great idea!

misdee · 27/05/2008 23:23

its not our property though, but it is an assured tenancy, so as long as we pay the rent we can live out our lives here.

Oh. I'm not quite so keen now. Unless you could persuade the owner to pay for the kitche? If you do all the work..? Get some estate agent quotes saying how much value the kitchen will add to the house? (Not v experienced in this stuff, but I'd hate to spend lots of money on somewhere I rented, even if it would make my life easier.)

misdee · 27/05/2008 23:40

its a council property.

you could add a sun room/conservatory for the sam eprice as a new kitchen and they are seen as temp structures if mainly glass

definately redesign the kitchen

ours is an excouncil house too and the kitchen is tiny but the way they had organised the three cupboards theu had bothered to give us was terrible

we got a bloke round from b and q and they plan the space for you we did this three years ago and it has been the best money we have ever spent donot know how we coped before...... now if only we could add an extra room
