Let's have a little drinking vessel sanity?
Here is a picture of the little cup (not mug) I use at work.

I will update with a mug when I get home.

Special glasses and tea pots etc also welcome, why not

Why does everyone seem to have their cups of tea on kitchen scales? What am I missing?

I thought they were mug warmers, but could be wrong

This is my favourite mug. It ticks a lot of boxes - my kids bought it for me, it's white inside (essential for tea), it has an otter on it, and has a sensibly-sized handle.

I LOVE THIS MUG!

USB mug warmers, for at your desk!

FluffPiece · 23/07/2025 12:18

I have one for in my office, and one for if I have any meetings etc. I’ll leave you to guess which is which…. Grin

My Tea mug has to be the same size at the base as it is at the rim. Tea tastes wrong otherwise.

I love my early morning tea mug ❤

My favourite mug, I have to buy them hand made due to the shape. It's the shape I love. The narrower top keeps the tea warmer for longer.

Lovely shape, terrible size.

My current favourite is this one, a Waitrose buy. Big enough without being oversized, keeps drinks hot for ages, the texture is lovely, good weight, very pretty… honestly I could wax lyrical all day 😂
Second place goes to my pint mug from Emma Bridgewater. Pink hearts and personalised, naturally.

Edited

I saw these a few weeks ago. I think they are really pretty.

FamBae · 23/07/2025 12:58

My favourite mug, because I find it beautiful even after 7 years (hence the wear on the glaze on the bottom) and if I put the milk to the top of the inside pattern I know that I can have 5 cuppas for my Slimming World milk allowance, yes I'm a milk 1st heathen but that's a whole different thread.

Lovely far too small muglet @tamade .

I have so many faves.
All my most fave faves are dead and gone and broken though, so I've learnt to spread my favouritism thinly. DH broke three of them! At different times. Bull in a china shop unfortunately. 😂

Here ya go, just some current faves knocking around. 😍 Lol all pics just taken, all wonky!

I love the one that's top right in the photo! So pretty.

What is the device upon which your beautiful mug sits?

It’s a proper plugged in (not USB) mug warmer. It was a present but think it’s from Amazon. I wore out my old i so hopefully this is more robust. You can choose temperature and how long it stays on!

Mine is Dunoon Cairngorm Orinoco.
Bone china, perfect for my morning coffee and a pleasure to drink from. Capacity is around 400ml, but I have never filled it right to the top.

I'm on holiday, so I'll post the mug i bought yesterday (I always buy a mug when I'm away). I prefer a wide, squat shape, some decent chunkiness/heft, stoneware or earthenware rather than thin china. This one feels lovely and solid.

This is my mug. I have searched for a back up. A cup of tea tastes perfect in this mug and I don't have a back up 😭

Today’s mug is not my favourite but my daughter made my tea this morning and she knows the ones I like. I have a whole load of different mugs from companies I’ve worked with and stolen procured over the years. Each is a reminder of a specific job I’ve done.

The second is my go to mug for working because it’s bigger. I drink a lot of tea, so a bigger mug means fewer trips to the kitchen. My favourite big mug broke recently so I’m on the hunt for a new one. I prefer a tall mug with a smaller circumference rather than the large one here. Nobody else in my house uses the big mugs so they are unlikely to cause any kind of family rift.

Try a Dunoon Glencoe. I have one which is my other favourite mug for when I want a bucket of tea rather just a cup of tea.

Perfect, but pricey!

This is my absolute favourite cup for tea (tea bag left in for builders brew strength).

Whenever I went on holiday my Grandad asked if we stayed in Hotel Splendid - said in a a posh voice. And I only realised when I saw this mug it was a famous book. I think about him every time I have a brew with this mug. Cheers Grandad Dennis ☕️

@BoredZelda I'm on my second in about 25y. (We have a stupid tiled worktop in the kitchen - it eats up china.)

Glencoe costs £25-£30, which works out at 10-13p per working day (assuming you work 5 days/week). Even at £30 that's only going to be about 2.5p/day after 5y of pleasurable tea-drinking at work.

😉
