I’m 39. Had lots of blood tests and nothing can explain why I feel so tired. I don’t exercise much but I’m slim. I eat bits throughout the day and will have one bigger meal at night. I am just into healthy bmi. I eat healthily. I take vitamins. I am constantly tired and don’t know why…any ideas please please please!

You eat one meal a day, the answer is obvious isn’t it

Tiredff · 22/07/2025 16:31

@DNAHOY i still snack and eat bananas or yogurts and I am in within usual bmi though

I think I’d feel constantly tired if I was only eating one meal a day.

A new approach to your diet could be a good place to start.

RaininSummer · 22/07/2025 16:38

Maybe you are short of iron if you are not eating properly in the day.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 22/07/2025 16:39

Exercise gives me more energy i find, and helps me sleep better too.
A 30 minute brisk walk in the early morning with my dog sets me up for the day.
Maybe try eating something nice and healthy for breakfast or lunch?

amber763 · 22/07/2025 16:41

More regular meals and maybe b12

BBQBertha · 22/07/2025 16:41

If bloods are all fine, could be something like hayfever which can make you tired?

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 22/07/2025 16:46

You say yourself you're not eating properly or exercising.

You need to start doing both.

Emus · 22/07/2025 16:51

Being dehydrated can make you feel tired - are you drinking enough?

hungryduck · 22/07/2025 16:51

Do you have children? How old are they? How much sleep do you get? What do you do for work? Any particular stresses in life?

EmeraldShamrock000 · 22/07/2025 16:55

You're entering your 40's.
It is a slump before peri.
Try having a better lunch too, plenty of protein, water and extra sleep.

lljkk · 22/07/2025 16:56

So... how many hours/day do you work?
How many children do you look after?
How many hours of sleep a day do you sleep well?
How is your tiredness affecting your ability to do anything nice or fun or productive?

Delatron · 22/07/2025 17:02

Could you try to have a healthy breakfast and lunch? You may just need more nutrition. Just because you are a healthy weight doesn’t mean you are fuelling yourself. You could have slowed your metabolism down by restrictive eating.

Worth a try. And then add in some exercise.

Sherunswithwolves · 22/07/2025 17:08

What do your blood tests actually say? Ferritin for example can be just within range so you'll be told you're fine. In reality you'll feel exhausted.

This. Plus perimenopause. Also are u getting good quality sleep ? A lot of my friends feel like this in 40s.

needtostopnamechanging · 22/07/2025 17:11

You could try eating more early in the day to fuel your day

Backtothebestbits · 22/07/2025 17:13

So you’re at the lower end of bmi? In which case it sounds like you’re not eating enough. It always concerns me too when I read posts like yours, that low body weight and no exercise means you’re setting yourself up for osteoporosis. Sounds like you need to make some big changes.

MellowTiger · 22/07/2025 17:14

Has your GP discussed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with you? If you feel unusually tired but your blood tests are normal this may be something to look into.
I would also take on board the advice of others, particularly having a more substantial breakfast.

IAmQuiteNiceActually · 22/07/2025 18:18

Are you neurodiverse? Or even just very sensitive? If so, we do tend to become tired far more easily due to all the sensory input from modern life. We have a tendency towards chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.

IAmQuiteNiceActually · 22/07/2025 18:22

Are you sure you're getting enough sleep? I need nine hours or I don't even stand a chance of avoiding an afternoon crash (not a normal crash - I mean the whole afternoon on the sofa, having hot flushes and feeling terrible).

And sounds like you're eating enough during the day but not enough protein. I have tinned mackerel in tomato sauce on toast because it's quick, cheap and healthy. Also eat nuts...I imagine you feel a bit hyper if you're eating a lot of carbs foods and then you're crashing.

MyIvyGrows · 22/07/2025 18:29

Eat regular meals, not snacks, and do more exercise

Laura95167 · 22/07/2025 22:17

Low iron or vitamin B?

Picklechicken · 22/07/2025 23:14

Your diet is terrible. You need more protein. Better lunch and breakfast. Being slim doesn’t mean you’re healthy.
