Would you get a loan for this?

I've seen a beautiful property to potentially rent and I have a viewing booked. It's far from where i currently live and part of my dream to move to the sea.

I'm so fed up where I am. Anti social behaviour, nothing going on and a house that's falling apart but the landlord doesn't give a shit.

I can more than afford the rent and bills but the deposit, first month rent and moving costs needed upfront would be an issue. I just don't have it.

If I like this property, I thought about getting a small loan for around £2000. I could afford the monthly repayments. I do also have a credit card, paying back finance for a piece of furniture and a small loan I'm paying back already. Would I be foolish to do this?

As long as you’re sure you can afford the rent, monthly repayments etc, I absolutely would.

Life is too short to put up with shitty neighbourhoods if you’re in a position to change it.

Thank you 😊

The property I'm going to see is in a lovely neighbourhood. It has the sea at the end of the road. It has little delis round the corner from the property. I would be so happy there I just know it.

I'm going to do my calculations tonight on paper just to make entirely sure I can afford the repayments. Eeeek.

How long would you have the loan for? You say it's far from where you live currently, do you work? If yes would it cost you more to travel to work? What would happen if you lost your job? When will your other debts be paid off? These are all things to consider beforehand.

Yanbu at all tbh, I say go for it!

Youre currently renting privately though right?

(I'd say never to leave a council flat for private rent)

but otherwise, do it! Start your new life 🥰

Thank you all so much. I was a bit hesitant about getting another loan but it will be worth it and then when I move I will work on improving my credit rating. I don't know how to do that but I'll find out where my credit score has gone wrong.

I'm quite excited for a new life.

It would be four years.

I can work remotely luckily with a few trips per month to the office.
