To say I’ve just taken the first step to beating my gambling addiction

Well, second as I guess the first is admitting it to yourself in the first place.

I just registered with GamBan so cannot play on any UK casinos.

My addiction started back in 2017. Online slots. Gosh I’ve wasted so much money.

Tonight, I’ve just gambled £600 away, lost every single penny and just reloaded and reloaded £100 after £100 and I’ve had it.

I hate how it affects my moods, I hate how it always makes me want to reach for my phone and then im not ‘present’ for my DC.

I hate how insular and anti social I’ve become because quite honestly, a lot of the time, I just want to sit and gamble.

I just want to be free of this awful addiction.

I downloaded a car hire app yesterday, as I need a car for when I visit my son at uni. After I completed the booking, as a ‘welcome to a new customer’ kind of thing I could click on about 10 or so free or discounted offers. I chose a discounted hello fresh thingy for my son, but about 4 of the offers were x amount of ‘free spins’ on online slot machines for different gambling apps. It really is insidious.

Well, over a year gamble free now.

I’m proud of myself, I can’t say occasionally I don’t ’miss it’ and think of it, but I’m much happier overall without the stress and sick feeling each month after losing a load of money!

Congratulations, this really is a huge achievement. You should congratulate yourself on the path you took, so different from where things could have led. Did you manage to save for your big item?

That is amazing news. Well done!
