I sympathise
I have a dog and so do a log of my neighbours. The people next door have two lovely dogs that I never hear, my own dog is corrected when he barks and so only does very very occasionally when started and it's usually just one singular "woof"
The people opposite have a big dog that I hear maybe once a week. I think between the three of us, there is a perfectly acceptable level of barking and some neighbours in the street wouldn't know we have dogs.
Then there are the people next to big dog people.
Their entire personality is that dog. They make a big "we have a dog" show. They walk it 8 or 9 times in a 24 hour period, some of these walks are at extremely antisocial hours, I'm talking midnight, 3am, 4am, 5am and it barks the entire time. I can hear it come all down the driveway abd fade away up the street, every time. In addition to these walks, they also just stand in front of their gates at the end of their driveway with their dog on a lead, just standing there with the dog barking it's head off, for up to an hour, then go back inside, why???
Problem is NDNs think barky dog people's dog is the most adorable thing in the world and are always going to over to them and stroking it, further encouraging them to think they are special because they have a dog, everyone must love their dog, and they are all totally OK with their adorable little noise machine waking up the whole street on its 3am walks.
This means that when I complain to barky dog people, I risk falling out with NDNs too, which is awkward because our kids play together. And NDNs are they type that throw birthday parties for their dogs.
Dog politics. Urgh.
There are dog people... and then there's dog people.
