To feel I’m Missing Out By Not Having Netflix?

There were discussions recently in social media about certain high profile series recently like Adolescence’ and I couldn’t join in cos I don’t have Netflix.

Another thread’s been started on here this afternoon about a Netflix series which from the OP’s description I must say sounds good. AIBU to feel I’m missing out for not having Netflix?

I find the only good stuff on it is older stuff I’ve already seen. They used to do some good original shows like Breaking Bad and The OA, but it’s mostly dross now, but you might feel differently, and it’s only a fiver for the basic package, so why not give it a go?

FancyCatSlave · 18/07/2025 22:26

It’s not a life long commitment- if you can afford it then have it for a bit. And cancel if you don’t rate it.

Magnir · 18/07/2025 22:31

Just have it for a month or two, there are one good things but there is also an awful lot of rubbish

Adolescence is excellent. There's a reason it's just been nominated for 13 Emmy awards.

I love Netflix. Yes, it's another 'subscription' - but a lot of content for £5.99 pm - and I wouldn't be without it now.

There is no better reason to have friends than to sponge off them, after all

Blimey, that’s a bit harsh! It’s nice watching shows together isn’t it? Like, friendly?

Sure.

But not very friendly to let your friends pay for it all the time.

I'm very happy to have Netflix at the moment, I have watched quite a few Korean TV shows; Squid Game, The 8 Show, The Atyptical Family, Heavenly Ever After, The Trunk, Coffee Prince.

Also saw The Good Place through Netflix.

And I don't think Friends is on there anymore.

Well it’s only happened once so far and I paid for the wine, so my conscience is clear!

I forget how transactional some people are in their friendships…

It's funny how the people who forget how transactional some people are in their friendships are never the ones who pick up the bill...

404PageNotFound · 22/07/2025 12:10

I've had it in the past, keep meaning to resubscribe but not got around to it as DP has Amazon and Disney+. I do want to watch the rest of Squid Game though.

£10 bottle of wine pays for my friend’s Netflix for two months so actually I think I’ve been ripped off. I shall render them a bill, courtesy of the ever cheerful though strangely friendless @MasterBeth

Mean and rude.

Cantabulous · 22/07/2025 18:46

If you wilfully misunderstand, ignore information, make unfounded accusations and generally pick fights @MasterBeth then you can hardly complain when someone else is rude back to you.

DashboardConfession · 22/07/2025 18:50

Yes, you are missing out because it means you haven't seen Dept. Q.

Laura95167 · 22/07/2025 22:04

Well get netflix then

KenAdams · 22/07/2025 22:08

What a weird thread. Get it if you want to watch stuff then

Magnir · 22/07/2025 22:50

It is a bit of a weird thread, it's only about £6 isn't it for a month to watch these things then cancel

UnderCoverB0ss · 22/07/2025 22:59

As others have said, a completely solvable situation.
