Inaccurate Consultants letter

Went to hospital Monday saw Consultants registrar /today I get copy of letter he’s sent to GP which is totally inaccurate. He’s saying I walked into room fine, I’m on a crutch & was sat down when he appeared. When I left he was in office with door shut. I can only wear one pair of trainers as have an orthotic & foot too swollen, I told him this..he’s put she had normal shoes on and is walking fine in them! He asked abt meds I said they were not working, he’s put they are alleviating the problem!
At end of letter Mrs * is fine with our chat.
What do I do about this. Should I phone and try and get letter amended, or not bother. Surely this will affect further treatments and meds which are not working tho according to him they are.

He’s reporting what he saw to be fair.

I would write to consultant - sounds like he might have mixed up his notes or a secretarial error

Wtf are you talking about?

OP yes I'd write to them and state what you have here. Sometimes errors happen and someone else's letter can be pasted into your letter or maybe he was not concentrating when he wrote it but I think it's important to get it corrected so it's accurate. Even if they update it to say the patient has disputed this or that.

I would contact the team secretary with the information that you have put here and request that either the letter is amended to reflect the correct information or that you have another appointment made as soon as possible with the consultant. Inaccurate information will affect your follow up plan

I have had similar experiences with inaccuracies in letters following a consultant appointment. If it has been a material issue I have pointed it out to the GP when I have next seen them, and asked them to note on their records. Occasionally I have had to email or call the consultant's secretary to tell them about a mistake in the letter and they have corrected it.

Might be worth a call to the secretary, particularly in regards to the point about your medication not working. That feels like the key bit. You can the tell the GP the rest of the issues when you next see them.

Really, even if he didn't see her walk in? Gosh I'm the last to moan about our consultants but this isn't right.

Ask your GP practice to add a note to the letter in your electronic medical record stating that the registrar's letter does not accurately reflect your presentation at the time of the appointment plus the amendments and let the consultant's secretary know that you have had to request these amendments.
